Athenian Grill

We visited Austin not too long ago and spent an evening downtown, starting with the Athenian Grill. The service was excellent, the owner was present, making rounds and chatting, addressing everyone and personally inviting everyone back. What courtesy! In the DFW area we just eat and go! The souvlaki was the best and the dolmades are a must. Everything was wonderful, tasty and served with a welcoming smile. It was a great experience and awesome food, from the Greek salads to the baklava and Greek coffee! Our visit was great, and we can't help but to thank all, at the Athenian Grill. My wife, who is Greek and moved to the US 7 years ago, and I had dinner at the new Greek restaurant, Athenian Grill. We had tried Ted's before it closed and found it to be okay. Also, we've been to Greek restaurants in many other cities, including Boston and Dallas. However, all others pale in comparison to the Athenian. I never expected Greek cuisine to have such a depth and complexity of flavor. I tried the lunch today and was also please. My wife and I both highly reccomend this restaurant. My wife can attest to the authenticity and I think I may have a new favorite restaurant (sorry Castle Hill). Pros: Excellent food, Excellent service, Nice location more

As a Greek American, I have been eating authentic homemade Greek food my entire life. Athenian Grill ranks up there with some of the tastiest and well prepared Greek cuisine I have ever had! What a great addition to the Austin dining scene! The decor was very nicely done & there was Greek music in the background. The owner & host greeted us as we entered and came over for a nice conversation. Our server was very friendly and gave us great service. I ordered the Chef's special (Tuesday) two wonderful Lamb chops that melted in my mouth. An incredible value- soup, salad, an appetizer plate (mezze), the main course and finally, a delicious (& generous) slice of baklava for dessert- all for under $20!! I recommend this dish and also the dolmathes and moussaka are also top notch. Trust me, you will not leave this restaurant hungry! :-) Pros: Great Value, Very friendly staff, Authentic Greek Food more
