Assured Towing

I also worked for Assured Towing. I started working for them on 1/28/11. During my time there, I was trained to break the law. They treat their drivers like crap. They dont maintain the trucks. In fact, the DOT required cab cards are all expired, as well at the City of Austin Wrecker Inspection, and the insurance cards. They told me to just drive it and pull cars. While driving for them I was involved in an accident due to another driver running a red light, and the officer working the wreck told me that had I been driving for longer than I have been, that he would have cited me for the insurance card, no front license plate, the blown bearing on the dollies, and a slew of other issues. When I told me GM about this and requested it be taken care of I was basically told to drive and not worry about it if I wanted to keep my job. I drove and 2 days later I was pulled over by DOT for the same violations. This time I was given a written warning and told if my name were to come up again in association with these violations I would be penalized for every violation they could find, to the maximum extent of the law. Again I informed my GM who told me that it was a non moving violation and wouldnt be counted on my license so I should not worry about it! I told him he needed to do his job and get it fixed, and he threatened to fire me. Meanwhile, the 2 checks I received while working for this company were both 19 hrs short. When I again confronted my GM about it he said he could do nothing until my upcoming check, which again was 19 hrs, short. Following all of this, I took my girlfriend to the hospital for a sprained ankle, and he demanded I bring him the hospital discharge papers showing all of her personal medical information. When I agreed to provide papers showing her name, the medical facility and date and time of visit, he informed me that ""it wasnt going to work out for me here"" and fired me. When I told him to make sure my check was correct he proceeded to laugh at me. I am in the process of turning them into every state authority I can think of. Also, I was told by someone in the office that they were being investigated by the State DA and were about to be shut down. Im not sure if there is any truth to this or not, but I do know that 2 days after hearing that my GM was gone in court all day. If it is true then I will be providing a few more nails to shut that coffin, and if not I hope to interest them in starting an investigation of some sort. I can name about 20 laws they break without thinking too hard. Company's like this give the industry a bad reputation. more

This is illegal! In August of 2009, the apartment manager towed my car, from my parking lot of the apartments. This was at the Brookmeadow Village apartments in north Austin. When I indeed appealed the tow case with the help of 311, and a detective, I was able to be awarded 1,658.40 for recovery of my vehicle that the manager took, for no reason. My concern was that the lawyer representing the manager from Brookmeadow Village Apartments, is a partial owner of Assured Towing. Probably an inside job for personal profit for the property manager. I am still entitled to three times the amount awarded plus 300.00 if I take this to small claims, and once again sue the property manager. In the future, call 911 and get a detective of the towing enforcement to handle the case. more

I worked for Assured Towing for about 2 months; what a horrible experience!!!\r \r All they care is about people's money! The trucks are always down, vehicle inspection/registration expired. Equipment always broken, damaged or out of date! \r \r Their motto is: ""if the truck runs, drive it"" ""if you get a ticket, don’t worry about it we'll pay for it""!! What a losers! \r \r They trained me to drag the cars out of the parking spaces and pop the linkage out of rear-wheel drive vehicles, which it will damage your transmission! Aint this illegal? \r \r Before they tow your vehicle, they will take a whole bunch of pictures and if they damage your car, they will take more pictures at the yard in order to say that the damage was already there!!\r \r Assured Towing it’s a law suit waiting to happen. I'm glad I quit before it was too late!!\r more

I had my vehicle towed from my apt. complex. They claimed I had no permit affixed on my car. I asked for proof and was never given any. Mine is not the only vehicle that has been towed from the complex for no reason. I wish the city would investigate these guys. Someone is getting kickbacks. Convict Hill Village Apts is where this happens too much. I will not be renewing the lease Cons: They two without notice and will not provide ""pictures"" more

i was towed from my apartment complex's assigned parking spot. unbelievable. i'll be going to small claims court, and i suggest anyone else with illegal tows does the same. Pros: they don't (physically) raaaape their involuntary ""clients"" but... Cons: they're a bunch of hopeless thiefs more

They towed my car from my apartment complex that i live in!!! I wasnt parked illegally and i had a sticker on my windshield. I dont understand how this is legal!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHH! Cons: they basically stole my car. more

The most pointless and worthless (except for the towing co and Apt complex) tow I have ever experienced. First off, the car was towed from the apt complex parking lot, of which i live. Second, the cited reason was for ""Abandoned Vehicle Removal"". Being that I use my car on the daily and park it at a different parking spot each day, how is that abandoned? Also, this ridiculous excuse for a business has NOT provided me with any substantial evidence of my car being ""abandoned"". \r \r The apt management has not been very helpful either, stating they have NO jurisdiction or control over these tows (yeah, sure). Now that it is my understanding that this apt complex allows such treatment towards its residents, I don't believe I will be renewing my lease (thankfully I only signed a 6month lease).\r \r Concluding, Assured is happy conducting shady, scumy, and worthless business practices. And the WindRidge Apt complex isn't falling far behind. Pros: they dont stink Cons: worthless more

BEWARE! This tow company has towed mine & my ex-wife?s vehicles on numerous occasions (managed complex) without just cause. They would not show us pictures of ""why"" they towed our vehicle or a good reason for the tow. Their receipt only noted that the vehicle was towed. 1 of the times the vehicle was towed & later released to the WRONG owner. Documents showed that the required notarization was overlooked as well as proper identification. Another time, this tow company was seen driving off with our vehicle in the middle of the night. It was not properly secured down. Driver was caught & our car was release without incident. We also seen what we would consider traps for vulnerable victims. They purposely park a vehicle in a tow zone (if not a customer) contracted out to Assured Towing (example ~ a Wendy?s restaurant next to Fire Stone Tire station). When another person see that the vehicle isn?t towed, they park their & are towed after they leave their vehicle to go inside. This is a shady practice, but legal. What they did was us is totally different then just being SHADY. These people are real tools. BEWARE. Pros: Some members speak English.
