Great Food! Great Atmosphere 11/29/2010

Like others have said, don't let the outside fool you. Once inside my family and I were welcomed by very friendly staff and did not mind sharing suggestions about what to order. We ordered the bbq pork fried rice, honey prawns, cashew chicken and shrimp chow mein. All the food came out with large portions. Pricing looked a bit on the high side until you see the portions it is well worth it. The food came out in a timely manner and was still steaming hot! Everything came out great, nothing we ordered was anything like the traditional americanized chinese food you find at safeway, panda express, etc. The flavors and aromas worked harmoniously together as each plate was finished off by my wife, 2 kids and myself, leaving no left overs. This was our first venture here and we will always drive the extra 10 minutes for some better than your average chinese restaurant! more

Avoid at all cost 9/2/2009

I totally agree with indigenous' comments! I live less that a block from here & went only 2 times when I first moved into the neighborhood. It's overpriced for the greasy, crappy (both commenting on the food & how your body reacts to it after eating) food. The place outside really needs at very least a new paint job, but in my opinion needs an ""Extreme Makeover: Restaurant Edition"" type renovation. The outside should be give the prospective diner reason to pause before entering. If you really enjoy good Chinese food avoid this place at all cost! Pros: Its close to where I live Cons: the food & atmosphere more

excellent Chinese restaurant in Kirkland 7/13/2009

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Seattle area. We drive 20 minutes, past at least two other Chinese restaurants to get to it. The same friendly staff have been serving us delicious food for nearly 15 years! The lunch buffet has only about ten selections so the food turns over rapidly and is always fresh and hot. Pros: great food, excellent service, lunch buffet Cons: cigarette odor from bar still lingers a bit in the lobby more

The reviews here are overly generous 8/26/2008

This is one of those Chinese restaurants that are split in two sections with a bar on one side and a restaurant on the other. The bar is a blue/white collar drinking bar, not a trendy Eastside lounge. That's not a perjorative, there is clearly a role for these establishments. My guess is that the restaurant is open to satisfy the provisions of the liquor license. Pros: Right on Market Street, easy acess and plenty of parking. Cons: As far as the food goes you could have done just as well at Safeway's China Express more

Asian Wok - Great all around 5/1/2008

I always recommend this restaurant to new people moving to Kirkland, co workers or people visiting from out of town. It will become your family restaurant. The owners are nice, service is good, attentive and pleasant and the food is always consistent and with large portions. more

Mediocre at best 4/17/2008

The food was disappointing after the good reviews I'd read on CitySearch. The food wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't anything to write home about. However, the fried donut dessert was superb. Regarding the service, the waitress was very nice and attentive. more

Consistently good Chinese 10/8/2007

I have been going to this great (if very traditional) Chinese restaurant for a few months now. It is my new favorite (though i still go to Noble House for dim sum) The portions are generous and the service solid. It's not stuffy, or fancy but you can take your friends or family and never be embarrassed. The flavors are bright and I have yet to be disappointed by any thing I've ordered. The won ton soup is comforting and really tasty: delicate intensely chicken-y broth, tiny shreds of BBQ pork, and amazing wontons. They serve the best egg rolls and egg foo yung I have every had. With the terrific egg rolls, fried prawns and potstickers, I wonder what their dim sum would be like if they only had it....? Pros: Always good, generous servings, outstanding egg foo yung. Cons: Bar crowd more

Best Chinese Food in Washington State 8/12/2007

I moved here 15 years ago from New York City - ""the chinese food capital"" of the world. I was so disappointed in the chinese food in the Seattle area- until I found Asian Wok in Kirkland. Beware the imposters that call themselves Asian Wok - it is only the one in Kirkland on Market Street that I give the 5 star review for. For 15 years I have been going there. The service is fantastic. The wait staff always has a smile and are very friendly. The food is very reasonably priced and the tast is fantastic. I have two kids and since they were preschoolers they have loved the chicken and vegetables!!! It comes in a dark brown sauce that I have tried to make but can never figure out all their ingredients. It is absolutely fabulous. (and my kids love it!!) Pros: Best Chinese Food in Washington State Cons: NO CONS more

Excellent Asian Food 11/17/2006

Really good Chinese food is hard to find in Seattle, especially if you don?t want to pay and arm and a leg. Asian work has some of the best food on the east side. It?s a neighborhood restaurant that has been around forever. The service is great, and the food is even better. more

Good chinese food in an area not where it's tough to find 6/29/2006

Seattle is a tough town to find good chinese food in. This local neighborhood place - which looks like a hole in the wall from the outside - is really very good. The inside is large and clean and the staff is warm and helpful. The food is excellent and the best we've found so far in the Seattle area. more
