Recently we went antiquing on a Saturday morning and stopped in at the Ashland for lunch. We had been there some time ago and remembered the food being good. The food was still good, but we had a bit of a negative with service. Nothing horrible, just not as attentive as they could be. Our food came quickly but they never checked back to refill our sodas and we were almost done when the entrees were brought. When we really did need refills waitstaff was nowhere to be found, it wasn't until we were almost ready to leave we were able to get a refill. It was slow coming once ordered. Food service was quick though. I also don't like places that give you a receipt as soon as they bring your entree, just leaves a bad taste. Bad business practice too, discourages orders of coffee or dessert. Maybe it discourages lingerers when the place is busy, but that wasn't the case here - we got there at the tail end of the lunch rush. Almost full when we got there, but halfway through probably only four tables still active - making the lack of attentive service even more glaring. Food was good though. My friend has been there more than me and says she always likes what she gets. She did order fries well done and had to send them back for a second dunk. I saw a number of Greek specialties on the menu and figured if Greeks own the place that might be the best bet on the menu so I got a sampler and it was very good. Just need to step up the service a bit and it's a hit with me!
