The service is even better than the food! 4/6/2010

The first time I went to Asado, I decided to splurge and order the Lomo steak, a $36 item - it was the best steak I had ever eaten! A couple of months later, we returned to celebrate our anniversary. Our server remembered our names, what we had eaten, and what we drank (including which wine I chose to complement the steak!) As we were finishing up our dinner, they brought us a complementary dessert to help us celebrate. A few weeks later we returned on a busy Friday night for appetizers and drinks. The restaurant and bar were both jam packed, the GM grabbed us, found us a cubby to sit in and fixed our drinks himself while he cleared a space for us to sit. The wonderful personal service keeps us finding reasons to splurge and visit Asado. Keep up the good work! Pros: Excellent food, excellent service, nice location Cons: Not enough parking, can be very busy more

Excellent steak 6/5/2008

We have been eating at Asado for a couple of years now and have yet to have a sub standard meal or experience. The tenderloin has always been well prepared and delicious. I also appreciate the use of infused oils and tomato relish in the plating as these add both a visual and more importantly an aromatic flair to the meal. We usually like to sit in the back table in the bar, as it is more secluded and less loud than the dining room. In fact, that would be the only drawback, all be it a minor one in my view, with Asado. It can be a little loud for casual conversation in the dining room. As for the gentleman that had a bad experience, it?s your ladies birthday, make a reservation for crying out loud. We usually spend 2 ? 2 1/2 hours over dinner and drinks and enjoy the leisurely pace at which Asado operates. If I?m looking for a faster paced dinner, I go to a different type of restaurant. Pros: Excellent food, quality cocktails, causal atmosphere & relaxed dining experience. Cons: Dining room a little loud. more

No thanks 3/16/2008

Will I step foot in Asado again? Probably not. Poor experience right from the start - we didn't even stay to eat, so I can't say anything about the food. The place was practically empty beginning at 5:00pm on a Saturday night. My lady and I entered and were not welcomed by the judgmental hostess up front. She seemed very annoyed that we had not made reservations. There were only two of us and we could see that at least 20-30 tables were open and available. She made it clear that hanging my jacket (sorry, I didn't wear my blazer) on the back of the chair wasn't okay - she obviously didn't take into account her own attire prior to commenting about my jacket. We took a look at the menu and the descriptions seemed unique. I don't doubt that the food might be good, but within minutes, the hostess chose to seat another couple at the table not more than 1 foot away. How unnecessary - honestly, there were so many tables still open. She did not need to do that. I almost introduced myself to that couple because we were basically sitting with them anyways. Yet another bad move by the hostess who clearly did not want our service that evening. After seeing that my girlfriend was somewhat annoyed with our circumstance, we left Asado. After all, it was her birthday and I only wanted the best experience possible for her that evening, which the hostess definitely failed to provide. Our night got much better after departing - thanks Asado. I mean, no thanks. Cons: The Hostess more

Great Food, but VERY SLOW service! 2/3/2008

The food was great, but the service was very slow, you feel like just another number at this place! The tables are way too close, not good for private conversation; they lady who sat next to us gave us the impression that she was trying to eavesdrop! more

Great steaks in a different way! 10/30/2007

Asado is one of the finest restaurants in Tacoma. Their steaks are top quality and reasonibly priced and they have a solid wine offering. The French rib steak is perfection and the polenta is to die for. Make reservations and plan to be there a while. Take your time and enjoy it. Pros: fun atmosphere and outstanding food Cons: can't think of any more
