I will never go anywhere but to see Barry again 5/16/2005

I had shoulder length blonde hair, but not a very ""pretty"" blonde, at least until Barry Soileau finished with me. Now it is befitting of my name...it is absolutely gold. Not in a harsh or brassy tone, but in a shiney way that celebrities would envy! I have wispy highlights, and a cut that makes them all shimmer. Barry is an artist. It is that simple. A Man's cut 5/16/2005

I found this place to be pretty cool. They did a great job on my haircut and highlights. Barry did my hair, but it looked like everyone in the place seems to know what they are doing, at least from where I was sitting. Pros: Price isn't too bad, Stylish, Good Color more

Change it up (and back) 5/16/2005

This is a salon that has an ecelectic group of talented stylists and colorists, all seem to be very talented from what I can see while sitting in Barry's chair, but I personnally have to recommend Barry Soileau, who from what I gather moved here from New Orleans, Louisiana. He has styled my hair for about 2 years now and I have been pleased everytime. I changed colors totally once and while I loved going from blonde to the more fashionable brunette, my boyfriend hated it, so Barry ""fixed"" me without damaging my hair...as a matter of fact...it looked even better than before. Curls Curls Curls!!! 5/16/2005

I have a full head of long curls. I recently went to Arte salon and saw Cristin for a cut and color. I had her cut it to my shoulder for a big change and she added chocalate colored highlights. She listened to what I wanted and the result was perfect!! She really seemed to understand my curls and gave me tips on how to care for them. Finally someone who cuts curly hair beautifully!!!!!! If you are looking for somewhere to get pampered in a chaotic world, a little wine, neck massage to die for, great blow outs, highlights that have Mother Nature even questioning their origins....go and see Barry Soileau at Arte Salon, but don't tell too many people or I'm afraid this place will become like so many and bloom too big. Hey guys....you want something done right??? Go to Arte Salon and see a hottie named Barry Solieu, a little import from down south in New Orleans. He will give you the best style, color, highlights and blowout possible. I first met him when he did my sister's wedding (a wedding party of 12 women) and some of the men actually got their hair done at the same time too. Know what? They ALL STILL GO to him! Go and see Barry Soileau at Arte Salon, he can look at your features, your complexion, and TRUST HIM! I work 50+ hours a week, and don't have a lot of time for myself, but Barry ""caters"" to me and my schedule...and to my hair. It shows. I always have the best looking hair at every function, and he manages to work me in no matter how short of the notice I am sometimes able to give him. Barry Soileau cut and colored my hair. It looks great, and I'll be seeing him again. I especially recommend him for a short to medium swingy bob, and strippy color. He's also a joy to be around and makes the time seem like a spa date. more

My Wedding 5/13/2005

I cannot say enough about Barry Soileau...he is fantastic. He has done many different hair styles, colors, etc. and all of them based on my tan, makeup, etc. For my wedding, I had a special request...I wanted my own hair to be accented with hair extensions (I am caucasion) as we were having a theme wedding, and he helped me find the perfect matches and then did the hair for my wedding party. It was perfect. He has also done my hair for other formal engagements and just fun ""funky parties"". He is a colorist genius. I have dark brunette hair and a fair complexion, not an easy combination to work with at times, but there is a colorist at this salon by the name of Barry Soileau that knows just the right shades to put on my hair to bring out the right hues. My hair had been damaged badly before and I was sceptical, but with the knowledge this man possesses and the expertise he demonstrates, I was won over. Great Style 5/10/2005

I have been going to Arte Salon for almost two years and have had both color (highlights and single process) and cuts. I have been seeing Barry, a wonderful person inside and out, who is very talented stylist and colorist. Being extremely apprehensive about hair color, Barry listend to my concerns, provided me with options, made a recommendation and made my hair color naturally spectacular! He also complimented the color and my hair/face type with a great cut. I have also put Barry to the test with putting my hair up for a formal party. I explained my fashion style for the evening to him and he created the perfect style for my hair. He is a man of many talents and I highly recommend him. Wouldn't Dare Go Anywhere Else! 4/29/2005

I have been going to Arte and seeing the owner Joseph for years now and I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else. He does wonders to my hair everytime I go in for a cut and he is always willing to fit me in as best as he can. I have called in trying to get an appointment for that same day expecting it not to work out--but he will always find someway to find time for me. Not only is he accomodating but he is very attentive and listens to what exactly you want done to your hair. The salon itself is amazing--great laid back atmosphere, friendly staff, and beautiful decor. Where else can I get a wonderful haircut and a glass of wine at the same time? Cristin is such a great stylist, definitely ask for her - she was totally laid back and excellent at communicating with me about my hair - I can't wait to go back to her for highlights! I have lived in NY for 3 years jumping from salon to salon/stylist to stylist, looking for one that fit. Finally, Arte came through for me. The atmosphere is chill, and the staff is friendly. Most importantly, you walk out the door looking and feeling beeeeeeautiful. I have to recommend Barry. He is fun, fashionable, and does a killer blowout. I have never received so many complements on my cut. more

I recently just randomly found Arte online and decided to take advantage of their citysearch discount. I've done this in the past and had hits and misses with it. This was DEFINITELY a HIT. I walked in with a huge headache from work and between the wine I was offered and awesome head massage the hair washer gave me I almost didnt need the cut. My stylist turned out to be great too.
