Just Amazing! 1/31/2013

Dr. Jim is a smart, caring and dedicated man, he is willing to help all types of animals. I have been going to his clinic for over 12 years, I have also worked there. If you look past all the personal issues and how the clinic looks and your there for the well being of your pet then this is the place to be. If your pet has serious health issue Dr. Jim will do all that needs to be done to make sure your pet will be ok and get back to it's normal life, he will give you the tools to make sure your pet is happy, healthy and comfortable if needed. Fancy floor boards and wall paper will not save my pet in need. However Dr. Jim and his staff will. I will continue to take my pets there because I know that they will have the best care. Thank you Dr. Jim for your hard work and loving spirit. more

Awesome vet 5/4/2012

I have brought my dog there and Dr. is great. looked over my pet and told me anything that he thinks needs to be looked at closer. it was a great time and they are remolding soon as well. I had great service and didn't spend a million dollars. more

Is Honest 5/2/2012

Went to see Dr. Jim Hughes for a second opinion on my Labs hip dysplasia and what were my options. He was very honest with me when he said that these were some of the worst he had seen. Explained my options and even took the time to explain the Pros and Cons of each option. I felt that after speaking to him that I had a better grasp of the situation and could make a informed decision on my step for my baby. more

Great place to go! 5/2/2012

Wonderful vet! Much better service since the vet split with his wife, everyone is more at ease. The new staff is very hospitable and everyone was very nice and interested in me and my pet. The doctor was very concerned about my pet, like the dog was his as well. They are a full service vet now, with hospitalization monitoring and boarding, and said they are working on expanding their services further, and they have some of the best prices in town! more

GREAT PLACE 4/17/2012

I went into the clinic after not being there for years. Dr. Jim was great he took care of my pug and the staff was very professional and so sweet to me and my dog. I will definitely continue to take my animals there. Its so much different from 4 years ago. Dr. Jim is really good and knowledgeable. He knew right away of the rash that my dog had gave me medication and it cleared up right away. And he wasn't really expensive either. more

Love NEW MANAGEMENT 4/13/2012

Went back to Armenia Animal Hospital when I got my new puppy. The new staff and management is great. Very caring, very loving to my animal. Made me feel at home and felt my puppy was safe in their hands. Even Dr. Jim was different more happy, he was just great. I am glad he will be taking care of my new boxer baby. more

Most happy with care provided 4/21/2011

Good: Our cat has had two surgeries to remove cancerous tumors from his right rear leg. In my opinion Dr. Hughes is an excellent diagnostician and surgeon. He has on both occasions kept us informed before and after the surgeries, even calling us himself after the first surgery.. Bad: The disrepair of the facility does not inspire confidence. However our cat has had no complications following either surgery.. Other: We first went to the hospital because they offered discounted prices for annual vacinations. From our experience their prices our lower than the other veterinarians we have used and the quality of service is as good or better.. more

They were great with my piggy!!! 10/18/2010

I recently adopted a baby mini pig and I didn't realize how hard it would be for me to find a vet to neuter my lil man, especially since I live in Land O Lakes, which is supposed to be "country". I called over 20 vets and after being spoken to like I was crazy (or quoted a crazy price) I was told by a friend of mine, who has rabbits, that Dr. Hughes was great and I should give him a call. Well I did and immediatly I was impressed with the knowledge Dr. Hughes (and his awesome receptionist) had on pigs, as well as many other exotics. It is so hard to find an exotic vet and especially one who doesn't charge exotic prices. Male Pigs are an easy procedure to alter and i was charged what you would for a dog, that is wonderful!!! This place was great, and it was so worth the hour drive. Oh and the best part is Dr. Hughes actually comes out and speaks to you personally about your animal. Most places I have been have the vet tech deal with the people and the vet behind the scenes. All the neg reviews on here did make me weary at first but they definatly changed my mind!!! The building is not clean and sanatary looking and the Dr. Huighs has NO COMPASSION. Its all about money with them. The receptionist has terrible customer service skills if any and shouts u questions from the other room more

HORRENDOUS 7/23/2010

THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN IMMEDIATLEY! there is NO way this place is up to code. It is Disgusting! The building is DIRTY and falling down, it SMELLS too. The Bathroom was out of order, the ceiling, floors...were all falling apart and dirty. The Male vet just didnt listen to a word i said and wouldnt let me get a word in..he just kept talking about HIMSELF and paid no attention to my cat. He only looked at her for 2 seconds them went of into story upon story of his own life..Did NOTHING to help my cat gave me NO medication for her and then Proceeded to charge me more than ive ever paid anywhere for a visit. My FIRST and LAST time going to this vet. DISGUSTING. if you care at all about your pet PLEASE do not take it here. more

Very Suspicious Actions 6/3/2010

I'm not sure what to think at this time. I have been to both facilities owned by the Hughes' and oddly enough the fees are much different from one to the one for the same meds and procedures. Why is this? One of the medicines that Dr. Jim told me I needed to get from him was DOUBLED in price than the same at his wife's facility. I took my dog in for reconstructive surgery and had to return because what he (Dr. Jim) did caused a problem and then I was charged again for him to fix what he was supposed to do correct the first time. Several thousand $$ later, apparently my pup "still" needs to go back and forth costing even more each time! Im actually scared to return there, and I am supposed to soon. more

I really dont care abt the former employees talking abt their grievences...it is obvious their opinions are based on personal issues (file a complaint with the proper dept) and not based on the services rendered by this facility to the animals.....having said that I think I will make an appointment more

This place is awful!! The staff has no clue what they're doing, they had a young girl at the desk named Chelsea who seemed like a complete moron, she asked me for my name 6 times and then asked me to spell my pets name (Thumper). The service was terrible, and when we received our call, they also told us that the vet who was available, was no longer available! more

Never again after 16 years 2/16/2010

I have used Dr. Jim for 16 years for our cats. I took my 16 year old cat in last week because she had been passing blood and did not seem to have control of her bladder/kidneys. They gave me an estimate of 473.10 for her test and care for Sat - Mon. On Mon, I decided to take her to another vet for a second opinion. Did not feel comfortable with Dr Jims. He inferred that I was just there to have her put to sleep because it would be inconvenient to take care of her. There was no basis for this. When I picked my cat up, the total bill was approx 374.00 I had already given them the 473. on sat. I asked if that was in addition. The tech went back to Dr Jim and when she came out she said I had a 20.00 credit. There was an addition $79.00 added to it. The final outcome was that I took my cat to another vet and they confirmed my fears that she needed to be put down. She would not get better. It seems like Dr. Jim wanted me to keep giving her meds and bringing her back for the money instead of for the quality of life of my best friend. I have always recommended Dr. Jim in the past but never again. more

This place has is TERRIBLE 11/11/2009

I brought my cat in on Thursday... I have not received 1 phone call the entire time he as there.... No update on status I didnt know if my cat was alive or dead... They said I could pick him up on Sunday after I called them 45 times.... I went to pick him up.... they were CLOSED on sundays.... the bill was 200 over the estimate... They have no idea what is going on... complete IDIOTS more

Ignorance is NO EXCUSE 10/7/2009

My sister recently took her two healthy cats for their shots. Within a few weeks they were both DEAD! Rabies vaccine can be deadly, but this vet nor two others would admit that cats can die from a reaction that causes neurological disease when "LIVE" attenuate vacine is administered. They take your money and you have nothing left. Dr. James Hughes should be investigated more

Irresponsible! 2/17/2009

Today is February 17th and I still have not received my w-2 from these people. I have called them every other day since the 31'st and they still have not gotten it to me. Shane was right when he spoke about retaliation. I posted something here and I'm the only one having trouble getting my document. more
