It is funny that these guys are white on rice, when it comes to collecting monies that they feel is owed to them, but when it comes to them paying out, they are no where to be found. They have a new location in Provo, and they show that Laura as the head of the company. But make no mistakes, GLoria is running the company and not doing a good job at that. \r There definately is a need for a placel like this, but it is a good job there are plenty of choices in getting help. If they operate their finances like this, I hate to think how they are with taking care of patients. more

I'm not surprised at all that negative stories about this place have popped up on KSL and other news sites. My Dad was at this place for only 3 days and was immediately treated like trash. Being one of the rare addicts that can still lead a successful personal life while using, he built up a very successful business. The Ark was well aware of this. They had him sign his entry papers while he was high on cocaine and heroin and then had him sent to the hospital to detox before coming back to the Ark. Well unknown to us was a promise to pay the full amount regardless of treatment ($15,000). They sent threatening letters demanding payment and sent the bill to collections right away. He talked them down to a few thousand, and for 3 days of ""treatment"" they should have been thrilled. But 6 months after cashing the check they filed suit for the rest of the bill. It may be legal to do all this, but in my book you only get paid for the work that you do, the Ark did next to nothing and got paid very well for it, and now they want more. Stay very far away... more

I feel like they scammed us. They have been billing for time when no services were used. Everytime there is an attempt to contact them the response has been that their paperwork is in storage. They will not return our calls, and have been increadably evasive. I feel really let down about their service. It is too bad. You send your loved one for help, and you end up with a legal battle about artificial services. It is sad. I can't recommend a place like that. more

A New Life! 5/20/2012

It is sad to hear the allegations presented against The Arc. I walked out of there with such a positive outlook on life and a new appreciation for life. I never felt like I was being being humiliated or frightened by any of the staff. They were nothing but helpful to my recovery. I was never verbally abused in any way. I never witnessed any family members being treated unfairly at any point. As far as the maual labor situation goes, picking up horse manure and feeding the horses was just a chore you did in the morning and it wasn't even as bad as everyone is making it sound!. They even made sure you had a partner to help you with it. We did a little spring cleaning for a small part of one day, just raking up leaves basically. Everyone was willing to help. I never felt like we were being taken advantage of. Mowing your yard by yourself was more work than what we did. It was nice being outside with everyone working together as a team. Especially a bunch of addicts! Ha! I was able to receive and write an unlimited amount of letters, so I was always in contact with family or friends. That right was never taken away nor was it even mentioned that it would be taken away as punishment. I was able to see my family every week, even if you were in a little bit of trouble for not following the rules or bad behavior, you were still able to see your family every week. This is such an amazing place. It was comfortable. .It was positive. If you really want to change your life for the better, be sober and feel happy while being sober this is the place to be. I am grateful for my experience there and I will never forget The Arc, because today, I am sober and hopeful. Pros: null Cons: null more

Not What We Had Expected 4/25/2012

We approached the Ark for our son at a time of great family sorrow and vulnerability. Right after sending him off, we were allowed no contact with him and none from him to us. We were surprised by the hostility displayed by the staff toward us as parents. They were virtually impossible to get ahold of by phone and were not responsive to us, despite the fact that we were paying the bill! Pros: null Cons: null more

Life is good 4/9/2012

For the first time in many years, my life is good. I have peace and happiness in my sobriety, thanks to the counselors at The Ark. It was and is the hardest thing I've ever done, and there were times when I wanted to quit and just give up. I had all kinds of excuses for my addiction, and I was always trying to blame everyone else in my life, rather than take responsibility for my own actions. What I finally realized was that my addiction and my recovery was up to me. The good people at the Ark could give me the tools and show me the way to stay clean and sober, but ultimately it was up to me with the help of my higher power to use the tools to stay clean. I have nothing but gratitude for my family who have been so supportive, my higher power, and the counselors and staff at the Ark. Pros: null Cons: null more

This experience was a joke. 1/24/2012

I came into the Ark looking for help with my substance abuse and alcohol dependence. Thanks to the AA tools they gave me I have been able to maintain sobriety however I would not recommend this place to any one. I was kept for almost 6 months and the head councilor was awful to work with. She lied on many occasions and they did not follow through with promising to keep my family in the loop. Also I was only able to see my children 5 times throughout that 5 1/2 months (not my decision or my families) I was also given a diagnosis by the head counselor and was told I could only graduate if I took the medication for that disorder. I went to a psychiatrist after graduation and was told that I had no symptoms of that disorder. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Please do your loved one a favor and take them somewhere where they can get the help they truly deserve. I would say on the Arks behalf the 12 step idea was very helpful. ALSO The Ark has their patients prior to graduation meet with their IT guy and submit reviews on here and google and yellow pages. This is a requirement for graduation. Pros: null Cons: null more

A fresh start 10/25/2011

The Ark truly changed my life for the better. I finally know a new freedom and a new happiness. I came into the the ark with a heroin and alcohol dependence as well as an eating disorder. I did not know who I was and my life was in complete chaos. With the help from the clinical staff and also my amazing group members, I got the help I needed and am now on my way to living a healthy beautiful life. Pros: null Cons: null more

A New Beginning 10/21/2011

My time at the Ark was very rewarding, and worth every minute. I learned so much and got the opportunity to mend relationships with my family. The counselors and staff are amazing, I couldn't ask for more. I am looking forward to my bright future and I couldn't have done it without the Ark. Pros: null Cons: null more

I really enjoyed my experience here, it has been a wonderful journey through the tears and the laughter. I have found out so much about myself, learned how to love myself, as well as learned many tools that I'm going to carry with me through out my life. All the counselors here are very personable and truly do care for each individual person. Its definitely not a cookie cutter program. Throughout this program I have found my spirituality and self worth. The family processing has also been a huge help not only to me but to my family members as well, it has helped them to understand that addiction is a disease. I truly appreciate The Ark and all that they have done for me, you guys have helped me with a second chance at life. more

A chance at a new life 10/18/2011

I got the opportunity to come to the Ark for my dependence on heroin, cocaine, alcohol, and marijuana. What I found out while going through my treatment that using the drugs was a surface issue my problems went way deeper than using drugs there was a lot of pain that I was holding in. The Ark cares about each person and there individual issues and needs. The family group also helped change my whole family for the better. The amazing clinical staff gives you the chance to go deep inside yourself and then helps sort out your problems and find a happy life. more

Thanks Ark! 8/25/2011

Ark put my family back together. Loving qualified people spent a ton of energy to show us how to help our loved one. Their family group is extremely powerful and very helpful. more

I found my true self 8/24/2011

For so long I held my emotion inside whether I was feeling happy, angry or sad. As I watched others at the Ark let go, I was able to let go of my emotions little by little, day by day. When I was finally able to let go of the pain I had kept inside, I started to blossom. I found my true inner self that I had masked with drugs and alcohol. Every counselor that I had at the Ark taught me something that worked, I could tell that they have been doing this for a long time and knew what they were doing. I felt like they really cared for me as a person. They helped me discover myself, who I really am, what my values are. They helped me get back in touch with who I am as a person. more

Thanks to all the staff and the clients of the ARK 8/22/2011

Thanks again for inspiring me to work my recovery. the Ark has given my life back, I will hold all of you in my HEART!!!! more

You Saved My Life! Thank You for 10 Drug Free Years!! 8/18/2011

I just want to let everyone know how grateful I am for 10 wonderful years of being clean and sober! After living with the wreckage of 19 years of addiction to pain pills, and a relapse after being treated in California for my addiction, I thought there was no hope for me. That's when my family stepped in helped me by getting me into the program at the Ark. The Ark taught me how to live without using drugs to cope with life's challenges. The program was exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it most! The staff and counselors kept me honest and shined a revealing light on my addictive behaviors and the lies I had been telling myself and others over the years. They saved my life, literally. I was on a downward spiral that really only had one conclusion were it not for the intervention of my family and the program at the Ark. If anyone reading this has an addiction or a loved suffering from an addiction, I encourage you to get help now! Before it's too late. There is always hope! Get into a good treatment program. Based on my own personal experience, I recommend the Ark. more

Unethical. 8/6/2011

I wish I would have researched this place more before I took my addict father here but I was told it was the best from a source I considered reliable at the time (big mistake). When I first brought him there he was heavily under the influence of cocaine and heroin, the counselor told us to take him to Lakeview medical hospital first to detox before they would take him BUT NOT BEFORE having him fill out and sign all their paperwork first which unknown to me at this time was a promise to pay the full amount regardless of completing the program ($15,800) so they had him sign away his money while he was under the influence. They promised to pick him up at the hospital afterword and take care of everything, they did not, I had to pick up my father and take him, they also told me I would be kept in the loop at all times, I wasn't. The Ark didn't do a single thing they told me they would do, I left thinking I had made a mistake leaving my father there, obviously he felt the same way, he called me two days later saying nothing but negative things about the place saying he was leaving. We then received a letter from a collection agency representing the Ark demanding payment in full for a $15,800 bill. Again he was there for only two days and he signed those papers while under the influence of heroin and cocaine. we are fully willing to pay for the 2 days so I called and was told we signed and would have to pay the full amount, I was told very smugly by the person on the phone "we always collect". Trying to collect the full amount for one month after providing only 2 days of service is 100% unethical to say the very least. These people do not care about anything but money, I bet they make most of there money from their lawyers and collection agencies. so do your loved one a favor and take them somewhere else. more
