I've been to this restaurant a number of times in the past (and it was an a o k experience), but when I went back a few weeks back, it was under new & better management. Their food tasted absolutely delicious as well as their side dishes, and the quality of meat served was definitely above average even for All You Can Eat BBQ deal (I've experience lots of AYCE restaurants whose meat quality diminishes as you progress into your meal). I've dined out at many (if not all) Korean restaurants in town, and I must say I have found my new favorite Korean restaurant. I can say that it's a lot better than those older Korean restaurants in long point area. It's a pleasant atmosphere to take family & guests on all occasions. I will definitely be going back next time, and every time I'm in town. more

The UTTERLY WORST EVER Kim-Chi restaurant in Texas 3/20/2011

I am from South Korea and recently moved here to the US along with my family to have a better life and then I ate at this place they call Arirang. I felt so embarrased for the first time in my life for being of Korean decent. I honestly wanted to commit what the Japanese call "" SEPPUKU""...... This resturant has got to be the worst ever in the entire state of Texas. Since I have not yet had the opportunity to travel outside of Texas. I can only speak of where I have been. As soon as I got home that night I gathered up my family and we had a family discusion in our living room on rather we should ALL commit seppuku after our experience there at Arirang. The experience at this resturant was that horrendous. I have never ever in my life, even in my home land of South Korea, had this bad of a experience. The service was down-right f&^ked up. Nothing I ordered was what I wanted. The staff could not even speak English, but wait.... they could not even speak proper Korean after I tried to speak to her in our native tongue. And then they chased me down, almost tackling my handicap 2 year old daughter in the process for a larger tip. I was beyond outraged.....I was homicidal at that point. She had the nerve to ask for more tip. I almost gave her the tip of my Glock. Please, please.... I beg all and everyone who is of decent moral standings to not visit this restaurant. Do not SUPPORT this place, if you really have a need to give money to support a cause please donate it to the United Negro College fund instead... Thank you and may the Lord Bless you and any other restaurant besides this one..... more

BE PREPARED FOR THE WORST!! and humiliation... 12/27/2010

don't come here unless you are ready to fight with the waitress chasing you out the door because you complained about the service... i would give Zero stars but the site wont allow it.. I used to be a waitress myself and i know that tips are the main salary for a waitress.. but this place is the worst restaurant i have ever been to.. i get better treatment at a shaggy Mcdonalds than here.. we first came in through the door and requested a table for 2 on the inner part of the restaurant because sitting by the door was getting chilly.. the waitress rudely said ""no you cant sit in there"".. alright fine.. not complaining yet.. then i was looking through the menu figuring out what i wanted to eat... im not korean so it take me a little longer to order.. the waitress stands there with an obnoxiously ugly grin and tells me i need to order.. okay fine i order my food.. still not complaining, thinking maybe she just had a rough day.. the food comes out HALF an hour later.. (p.s: there were only 2 other tables here and we only ordered 3 items).. we start grilling our food and then i had to leave. I asked for the check and a few to-go boxes since i could not dine in. she gave me the bill which didnt seem to add up correctly.. i asked again for the to go boxes and she said ""you can not to go anything. this is a buffet"" WTF i never once saw the word buffet anywhere.. but okay im okay with that too.. but she kept blabbing on and on to the other tables about how i did not want to pay for my food.. when i already paid... i got angry and said i already paid.. Then she proceeded to calling me cheap. thats when i got furious and told her that the service she surrendered was horrible... she said she did not care and that i had to still leave at least a 20% tip. i explained that the amount of tip is up to the customer to rate on the service given.. she said she dont care. i still have to tip. i pulled out a 50 and ripped it into 4 and gave it to her for tip. she then called me trash. honestly to me, money is not a problem, i was okay with tipping her a full 50 percent.. but the service did not even deserve a single penny from my pocket.. and this crazy lady actually CHASED ME OUT TO MY CAR and told me that i need to give her another 50 dollar bill... i really should have just ran over her foot or something.. this was the worst experience i have everrrr everr experienced... i paid 100 bucks but left on an empty stomach with no to-go.. more

HOUSTON's WORST RESTAURANT 12/21/2010

Have you ever been to a restaurant that chased after you to the parking lot just for more tip? This is the one, it's just plain stupid and unprofessional in a service industry. They wont be satisfied with just 10% tip, they told me I have to give at least 15%, I asked the lady : is this the policy here? She was like yeas yeas. If the foods were good and the service are nice, I would willingly give 15 or more, but they just dont deserve it. Unbelievable. more

WORST RESTAURANT EVVVVVVEEEEEERRRRRR 8/23/2010

Where is Marvin Zindler when you need him?!?! OMG!! I f**cking hate Koreans!! They are so rude that it's UNBELEIVABLE!! I went there with my husband and sister-in-law and the minute we came in, it was bad service from beginning til the end. 1st, we orderr water and coke and the waitress brought out water and ice tea. We told her, nicely, that we ordered coke instead of tea. she actually got pissed, didn't even apologized. Dam Kim Chi!!! Throughout our eating experience, the waitress didn't come around much so we had to flag down another waiter, which was nicer. When it was time to pay, I decided to tip her $5.00 and she came back and told us that we tipped too little. My sister-in-law said to her that the tips should be up to the customer of how service was surrendered and that her service was not too good of a service. I began to take the receipt back and erased the entire tip but my husband wouldn't let me. Guess what the waitress had the nerve to say??? ""Next time you come, we give you bad service!"" (in her broken english accent). Do you believe that?!! What a f**king b**ch!!!! We told her, ""don't worry, we won't ever come back!"" If you DON'T CARE about services, then this is the place to go. But remember, when it's time to pay, make sure you start your engine first, pay and then run!!!! This was a very upsetting experience!!!! more

Exceptionally Bad! 6/4/2010

Service is pitiful, then they have the gall to chase you down in the parking lot to tell you how much you should have tipped. Unbelievable. Don't go here. Ever. Cons: Waitstaff is Rude more

Bad services, fighting for the tip 5/5/2010

Me and my family went there for diner. The service is bad. They bring a small side dishes, I have to ask for salad. and I have to look for them If I need anything else, and it took a while for them to bring it out. The worst thing I when I pay and they was fighting with me over the tip, that I should tip this much. I tell them you was lucky that I tip you this much, your don't deserve the tip at all, the services is terrible, and the keep fighting with me over the tip. she said it doesn't matter what base on the total if the bill you should tip this much or more. I was like ""WHAT"" . I want to talk to the boss or manager, and she said she incharge talk to her. IF you consider goes there, don't expect too much on services and food, but they will expect theTIP from you, be ready to fight. more

Greatest food outside Seoul 6/30/2009

This has GOT to be the best Korean food outside of the Peninsula, and it strongly competes against the restaurants I've eaten at ON the Peninsula. Certainly not the greatest service, but whole lot better than a vast majority of other restaurants I've visited in the States. How good was my overall experience? I left a 30% tip. The cabbage Kim Chi was crisp and VERY well seasoned, and not let me get into the Nirvana that was the cucumber Kim Chi. I agree with g1nahis: TRY THE BULGOLGI!!! Pros: delicious and inexpensive, beautiful and relaxing Cons: too far away from my residence more

DEEEEELLLIISSSH! 5/18/2007

Best Korean food in Houston, now that Green Pine Tree closed down. I hear that the cook from Green Pine Tree is actually the cook for Arirang now. I go there for the consistently tasty food, not to be adored and pampered by the waitstaff.. Sure, service may not be 5 stars --- but I've learned not to really expect that in Asian restaurants... I don't know if that's rude or, understanding (I'm Asian myself, btw). I would recommend the bulgogi, pork and spare ribs that you cook right at your table. Sides are great too. Pros: Consistently Tasty, CLEAN and Smiling Waitstaff, Easy Parking Cons: Overworked waitstaff but the do what they can. You leave smelling like BBQ. more

give me a reason to go to this restaurant 3/7/2007

This is the worst Korean restaurant, or restaurant, I've ever been to. The service is bad. You have to look for the waitress to ask for some thing. They never come to ask you what do you need. Korean food is usually served with side dishes. In this restaurant, I asked the waitress 3 times before she took out the side dishes. Chef is extremely slow. We waited about half an hour for two dishes. It was a weekend night. But it's not crowed at all. They had only about ten customers there at that time. I don't understand why it took the chef so long to get the dishes ready. Pros: easy to find a parking place Cons: food, service more
