Made me waste time on an apt I loved telling me the landlord accepted my offer (which I have in writing mind you) and then playing games over the course of almost two weeks only to find out apt was rented to another person who paid 3 months in advance.
First she said landlord accepted my $100 less on rent offer and that they need good faith deposit ""to close this.."" fine I do that. All is great! I'm thinking I have this lovely place. Then literally the next morning a mysterious new applicant offered full rent amount. She said I still had a shot because I have better credit. Then nothing, waited, and waited and waited. Then finally I caved and offered full rent amount thinking for sure I had it, as she said if I offered full amount I would get it because I had better credit than other person. My hunch now is they probably never even submitted my app. They probably just like to collect the hefty application fees for extra revenue. If they get a few suckers a day that adds up to a lot of revenue. Because if greedy landlord rather go with tarnished credit applicant to charge more upfront, why the heck would he accept a lower rent offer to begin with - makes no sense. And you think she would've said hey, take the place for full amount,,, NOW, if whole thing was true! Why didn't she - probably because it was already in final stages of approval with other applicant. It's not nice to play with people's time and emotions. Making me think I had it when really I didn't. At one point I even called her manager (Nicholas Barbara) to find out what the hell was going on. Do you think I got a call back? NOPE of course not!
Another annoying thing is she accepted a personal check for app fee and then following Monday was like - oops we need a certified check. Here I go trekking to the bank..wasting more time. Really?? You've worked there more than a day and didn't know this already!! Was probably stalling..They also kept re-posting ad for apt which I believe is against the rules when another one of their customer's already has applied.
