Editorial review from Citysearch 8/5/2012

My experience at this apartment complex, now called Fannin Street Station Apartments, was almost 100% positive. The grounds seem to be manicured, and the apartment was comfortable and clean. I mostly lived there alone while my husband was hospitalized, so I was pleased that the doors were heavy and solid, and had double deadbolt locks. The shuttle and the adjacent train station were convenient modes of transportation when I didn't want to pay the high parking fees at MD Anderson. Other than a very noisy upstairs neighbor, who was eventually evicted, the place is relatively quiet. I never had any problems with flooding, even with daily, heavy thunderstorms. Only negatives were very narrow parking slots, and sometimes overflowing centralized garbage disposal/compactor on certain days of the week. I subleased the apartment, fully furnished down to the toothpaste, from Tempstay Corporate Housing. Couldn't have been more happy with Gerry and Steve Fuller. When I first arrived, while shopping at Fiesta Supermarket, my purse was snatched, along with my keys, etc. Gerry promptly brought me another set, and didn't charge me the $50 replacement fee. She also brought me a recliner when my husband was discharged from the hospital and didn't feel comfortable sitting up in the sofa or upright chair. Gerry went out of her way to respond to our physical and emotional needs during my husband's illness. Although we're happy to be home as of yesterday, we're already missing our apartment in Houston. Thanks, Tempstay and Fannin Street Apts, for helping us through a very tough 4 months. more

DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! 5/20/2009

I lived here for a year. There were multiple break-ins and there was even an instance where several individuals were held up outside their apartment. Don't let the security fool you. They let ANYONE inside especially during rodeo season. When I moved out they tried to charge me to replace the carpet for the ENTIRE apartment when it just needed to be cleaned in one room. They are putting a pet treatment on my credit when I NEVER even had a pet in the apartment. The apartment was clean! They are totally unreasonable!! I have never lived in such a poorly managed place. Pros: location Cons: unsafe, poor management, overcharged more

Your money would serve you better at another property 11/28/2008

The design of the apartments is thoughtless with a definite touch of cutting the corners. The apartments have inadequate shelf space, and in general have poor layout which limits usage of the floor space (for example; A lot of floor space in the kitchen where you wouldn't place a couch but is now useless space). There are no light-fixtures in the rooms. You must provide your own overhead lights or rent them from the management. What a gimmick. The pet policy is almost obscene. $500 depost ($250 you get back, $250 they keep for their troubles) plus a $10 monthly fee in addition to the $250 they get to keep. If you are nice, they may even let you rent an ice maker for your refrigerator. Also the cabinets are made of multi-density fiberboard (MDF), not even plywood or composite. This is the cheapest material that can be used and it definitely shows a lack of taste. I find that the parking lots flood a bit in heavy rain. The trash compacter breaks frequently, so cleanliness and smell are an obvious problem. If you get an apartment facing Fannin, you will likely be annoyed by the metrorail intercom and the bright lights from Reliant stadium several nights a week. Living close to the rail is good if you work in the med center or downtown. The office staff seem to make excuses for a lot of things and generally don't seem like they care about your concerns. If I pay to live there, then they work for me. I expect to be treated like I have value, not like you can look past me and hear ""blah blah blah"" until I walk away. If you do get foolish and move in here, I do recommend you try Villa Roma Pizza about a block away. Pros: metrorail, 2 pools, lots of green grass Cons: trash, staff, rent-a-cops, corporate greed, dark areas of property at night more

BEWARE THIS PLACE FLOODS!!! 9/1/2007

Although the complex is relatively new (built in 1996) compared to the surrounding aparment complexes, the water drainage system is inadequate. With any light and persistent Houston rain the parking area becomes flooded and your vehicle will suffer water damage if you are not careful. I chose this place cause the metro rail line is conveniently located across the street, but also because of this, there are a lot of homeless bums and criminals that wander into the apartment complex from now and then. It is hard to keep these people out because there is not enough security personnel and this place has a lot of residents coming in and out. The front office amenities and gym are nice and all, but don't be fooled or get caught up in this. This place FLOODS easily !!! more

Poor customer service 3/23/2006

Despite a claim to the contrary, Archstone actually has poor customer service and is not responsive to customer needs. They will raise rates considerably, and show little flexibility regarding lease terms. more
