Best

This is a ride the whole family will enjoy. Its a great way to see exotic animals in a natural setting, not behind bars. The family will have lots to talk about and see. Excelle...

You will get SOAKED!!! 7/17/2008

Every time my family and I plan on riding this super-soaker of an attraction, we not only bring two panchos per person, but a change of clothes just in case. The moderately steep drops and jarring bumps are thrilling, but you stand a 50 % chance of getting off the ride completely and utterly drenched, which when it?s not summer, can prove to be disastrous to your Disney day, especially in December. Bottom line, if you don?t want to haul around a change of clothes all day, ONLY ride this ride when it?s blistering hot outside. more

Hit-or-miss with spotting animals 7/16/2008

I?ve ridden this safari a couple of times over the years when I?ve been to Disney World. Sometimes, I got to see a ton of animals (elephants, giraffes, etc.). Other times, especially later in the day, there were only a handful to spot rooming the savannah. The jeep ride is particularly bumpy, so it?s not for people with a bad back. Also, unless you?ve got a Fastpass, be prepared for a long wait to get on the safari,. Bottom line, it?s nothing more or less amazing than what you?d see at your local zoo. So if you?ve got one of those near you, skip this ride and check out the more unique ?Lion King? or ?Tarzan? stage shows. more

Don't Bother 6/21/2003

As an Orlando native, I've visited all the parks and gone on almost all the rides there. I hated the Kali River Rapids. The line was an hour long, and the ride itself felt like it lasted less than a minute. I felt really cheated. The most interesting part of the ride was the things they provided you to look at while you're waiting. Pros: environmental message Cons: way too short more

Wet? 11/23/2002

Kali River Rapids is a good ride for people who want to get wet. I like to go on the ride whenever it is hot(90). The only thing I do not like is that some riders do not even get soaked. Pros: Soaked Cons: Long Lines, some not soaked more

Drenched! 8/26/2002

Overall, the ride was pretty good, even when you consider my wife got drenched. It was fun, and will cool you off on a hot day (90+ in August). The downside is while waiting in line (use Fastpass, it will save you in the long run), you pass through temple that is not air conditioned, and people get a little agitated with the wait. The day we went, it was about 45 minutes, and over 90 degrees, with no wind. Ugh! Disney's attention to detail is very good, and this will give you, and your kids a very fun ride. Enjoy. Pros: Great family fun, Refreshing, Scenic Cons: Waiting area, hot, Long lines more

HALF A RIDE 8/12/2002

I THINK THE DESIGNERS MUST HAVE TURNED IN THE PLANS AND THE MONEY MEN SAID TO HALF THEIR BUDGET. I HAVE BEEN ON MOST OF THE RAPIDS RIDE ON THE EAST COAST AND I MUST SAY THIS IS IN THE RUNNING FOR THE WORST. IT'S SHORT AND IT COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH MORE IF THE DISNEY GUYS WERE ALLOW TO DISNEY-FIE IT. yOU CAN SEE THEY WERE GOING CHEAP Pros: GOOD IDEA Cons: SHORT, FEW EXTRAS more

Not a zoo. 8/7/2002

This is a ride the whole family will enjoy. Its a great way to see exotic animals in a natural setting, not behind bars. The family will have lots to talk about and see. Excellent adventure. Pros: animals roaming free, natural habitats, learning experience Cons: very hot, expensive, can get crowded more

Butt bruising ride but worth the pain! 7/14/2002

First of all I'm NOT a big Disney Fan but this attraction is one definitely one of the best rides Ive been on. Sure the story line with Big Red and Little Red the elephants is pretty hokey, but its Disney after all and hokey is to be expected. The animals are absolutely beautiful and although they have been given room to roam they can most always be gotten at least a glimpse of. If you are lucky enough to be in the park during a summer rain show you should take this ride just after it stops all the animals will be out and youll have your best viewing opportunities. True the seats in the Jeep could be more comfortable but this is a not to be missed attraction get a fast pass early because you might want to go on it again later in the day! Pros: Beautiful Animals, Great Scenery, Corny Story Line Cons: long weight, hard seating, no A/C more

can't miss this one!! 6/4/2002

This is the most entertaining ride at Animal Kingdom. It surpasses other theme park rides that promise animal encounters because the animals are frequent and so much closer. Don't forget your camcorder. There's a great shot at every turn. A bit bumpy though. Be careful if you have a bad back. Pros: great sights, fast pass, lots of animals Cons: small theme park, hot florida sun, bumpy ride more

What animals...? 6/4/2002

While this new feature is interesting, the interaction with the 'game warden' (via a screen in the jeep) is a Disney creation and a very poor one at that. It is bumpy so be prepared. Half the creatures were in pens and the others were asleep or hiding (as they do in the wild) so as not to be bothered with humans - and it was early in the day too. The afternoon will bring less promise of seeing any animals. Also, when a baby giraffe approached our vehicle, the driver moved away - and a nice photo opportunity was lost. If you stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge you may see more animals than by going to Animal Kingdom. Pros: something different, kids meal cheaper! Cons: too expensive (meals), didn't seem authentic more

Got towel? 6/4/2002

This was a fun ride that should come with a warning - you will get soaked so you will need to bring a waterproof backpack (there is minimal space to put away anything you are carrying) and towels from your hotel. If not, put the contents of your bag in something that will keep them dry. Leave your shopping bags and anything you don't want to get wet with someone not going on the ride. It would be advisable to pack an inexpensive poncho from home and wear fast drying clothes. Pros: Fun ride, Fastpass available Cons: No "soaking" warning, Bumpy more

Editorial
  • Overview
Disney's Animal Kingdom puts an emphasis on exploration and encourages guests to take their time in learning about the natural worlds re-created here. Walkways wind through lush vegetation and offer spectacular views of various species of animal and plant life. This is Disney's largest park, so be sure to bring a good pair of shoes or sneakers.

    The Experience
Expect large crowds, particularly at the main attractions: Kilamanjaro Safaris, Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur and It's Tough to Be a Bug. Those traveling during peak seasons (summer and holidays) should heed this strategy: Start with Dinoland U.S.A. and work your way around the park in a counter-clockwise fashion. This will afford you excellent views of the tigers in Asia (most active in the morning) while avoiding the rush for the Kilamanjaro Safaris and Kali River Rapids.
