Editorial review from Citysearch 7/10/2012

After a bad experience several years back I had not returned to Angelo's until June 16, when I dropped of some winter bulk dry cleaning (thought I'd give them a second chance, as their per pound rate was lower than the other local cleaner). Bad idea! When I went to pick it up on July 3, my previously unwrinkled coats were still crumpled in a laundry bag, untouched. They asked me to come back on July 9 - the clothes were cleaned, but otherwise in worse condition than when I left them. They refused to remedy by pressing, and, the ""manager"" was rude. Incidentally, on each of my 4 visits (drop off, attempted pickup, actual pickup and complaint) there was someone else ahead of me with a problem. more

lost item, rude customer service 7/12/2011

They lost an item of mine and when I asked them about it, they were very rude. They did not offer any kind of compensation, even a small discount. The worst part is they were in violation of their own policy (on the back of the ticket) but they wouldn't even admit that it was possible that they lost the item. The ticket identified one more item than I received, and I know exactly which item it was that they lost, and yet, they insisted that it was impossible for them to have lost it. more

Bad, bad costumer service 6/22/2011

They called me to say that one of the buttons on a coat I had dropped off was broken and couldn't be fixed. I stopped by to ask them what was going on, and was told, rudely, that they had called ""just to let me know"" and ""my stuff wasn't ready."" I knew that, had just come in to inquire... When I came back to pick up my clothes, they made me pay for the coat they had ruined. They are also not very costumer friendly, and expensive. I will not go there again. more

Wonderful people, fantastic service 6/21/2011

I brought in a corduroy blazer with an ink stain on the lapel last week. Angelo got it out and the jacket looks incredible. When I came to pick it up today I also brought in a shirt with a paint stain which they spot-removed for me immediately, while I was there! The staff is all smiles and incredibly helpful and I will continue to make the 30-minute drive from my home to them every time something comes up. more

Amazing Service! Great Turnaround Time! 2/24/2011

I needed an item cleaned in less than 24 hours, and after Wegman's told me they wouldn't be able to have it done, I went to Angelo's to see if they might be able to help me. They assured me they could have it done earlier than I asked them to, and they were more than gracious and friendly in their service. I was really in a bind and they helped me immensely! Will be a repeat customer from now on! more

Sure to LOSE your clothes if not Destroy them 1/18/2011

On two separate occasions I dropped off clothes and when I went to pick them up they said they did not having anything for me. After ""pressing' the clerk, he allowed me to check the carousel and we found the clothes. Apparently, the clothes were entered under someone else's account. Most recently I dropped off a shirt and when I went to wear it, I found the collar buttons torn off and a large whole under the collar. Mr Kellog, the owner, said they were not responsible for any damage to clothing. How is this right? A large part of dry cleaning is gaining your customer's TRUST that clothes will be cleaned and returned in the same condition as when you dropped them off - hopefully cleaner and neatly pressed. Am I missing something here??? Mr. Kellog you've lost my TRUST and after reading many other reviews, I see I am not alone more

great customer service 11/30/2010

My family and I walked into Angelo Dry Cleaners needing to have some stains removed from a blouse for my grandmothers funeral. We asked if there was any way this could be done today. The owner explained that it was already midday and the cleaning was already done this morning but he took the blouse from us while we waited and returned shortly after with the stains removed! He did not charge us for the removal. My family and I will always remember this act of kindness! Thank you. more

Ithaca's Green Cleaner 10/13/2010

Angelo's offers non-toxic drycleaning, which, in a sane society, would be the only kind available. How could anyone in good conscience use anyone else?!\r \r I've used them for several years, and the service has always been terrific. But just as important as their fine service is the fact that they bother to be non-toxic. It takes thoughtful management and an authentic awareness of things to make that commitment.\r \r Please patronize this green community leader and help persuade others in Ithaca to follow their good example!\r It all makes a difference. \r more

The Most Expensive Dry Cleaner EVER!!! 9/1/2010

The nightmare first started the day after my fiance dropped off our clothes. They called him to ask what size he wore and what type of brand he wore because they did not know which shirts were his!!! This was not the worst part. When he went to pick up the clothes, our bill was over $100!!!!!!!!!!! They charged $6 for men's shirts and $7.50 or more for blouses!! This is so ridiculous!! We will never ever go back and we want to warn other potential customers to be aware and be prepared to spend lots of money if you decide to take your clothes. more

Where wool goes to die 1/27/2010

After much agonizing, I dropped off several sweaters--normally I hand wash all of these items but was too busy to do all of them. Some of the items shrunk and one very expensive knit sweater had a two inch hole in the back. After dry cleaning the item, someone called to alert us to a ""very deceptive little hole"" that they supposedly found on the knit prior to cleaning. First: it had NO hole as it had never been worn (it was very musty and needed to be cleaned). Second: if there had been a hole, they should have called before destroying it. We will never go back there again. I just don't want this to happen to anyone else. Pros: good with comforters Cons: bad with sweaters more

Good advice 2/11/2009

We walked into the business 10 minutes after it was supposed to have closed on a weeknight. A man who I believe was the manager said he would help us out and prepared to take our clothing items. However once we explained what we wanted done he replied that investing in a new coat would be a more sensible choice due to the cost of getting it cleaned and eventually tailored. While I can't give praise to the work they do as of yet I can say that we were welcomed with helpful service. more

They stand by their work 1/14/2009

A dry cleaner is a dry cleaner until something goes wrong. And today Angelo Dry Cleaners bought my business loyalty forever. Last spring we decided to use their free winter storage service after the major winter clothes clean. It frees up closet space and means your clothes aren't smashed - altogether a great service. When we picked them up, all the cleaned items were perfect except for one- a long hooded down coat had shrunk several sizes- it would no longer fit anyone in the family. Here's the good part: within 24 hours of bringing this issue to the management, they agreed to replace the cost of the coat. Now that's service! Not only are the cleaning fluids at this dry cleaners eco-friendly but they stand by their work. Bravo! more

Sexist pricing policies 4/9/2007

Angelo's advertised a special laudry service--99 cents per shirt--both on their outdoor sign and on an interior sign. I requested this special when I dropped off my two white cotton shirts. I asked for light starch. When I picked it up I learned I was charged $7.50 each because it is a ""women's shirt"" and doesn't fit on their ""men's only machine."" I complained and was told ""tough"" that the special, though not advertised this way, was only for men. Cons: Sexist pricing, rude service more

Poor Customer Service 11/2/2005

I took in my suit to get dry cleaned. When I saw the finished product, the suit was wrinkled! They didn't even take time to press it. They were very unprofessional; they would not take responsibility of their poor service. I will never go back to this dry cleaners again. more
