RIP OFF ALERT!! RIP OFF ALERT!! RIP OFF ALERT!! 12/2/2011

**************************************************************** RIP OFF ALERT!! RIP OFF ALERT!! RIP OFF ALERT!! **************************************************************** Worst Experience I have EVER had with a tire installer! Worst, most disrespectful customer service EVER! Most clueless and IGNORANT staff and management I have ever encountered! STAY AWAY FROM ALL STORES OF THIS DECEPTIVE COMPANY!!! ********************************************************************************** Discount Tire/America's Tire corporate policy has a very deceptive practice designed to trick or bully you into purchasing new tires for your front wheel drive car!! Given that a large percentage of cars on the road today are front wheel drive. America's Tire has devised a very clever and deceptive practice of refusing to install new tires on the front wheels of your front wheel drive car if the rear tires have more than a 2/32 difference in tread depth! They will attempt to harass and bully you into purchasing 4 tires instead of the 2 you want - claiming that its is unsafe to have the better (new) tires on the front wheels of your front wheel drive car! The utter IGNORANCE of this assertion is just too ridiculous to comprehend. In my case, I had replaced the front tires on my car about a year ago and they had perhaps 7000 miles on them - they are hardly worn and in excellent condition and had 6/32"" tread depth. They were more than acceptable to run on the rear wheels of the car. My rear tires however, needed to be replaced so I wanted to rotate the existing tires from the front to the rear and have the new tires installed on the front. A very reasonable request and something that anyone else with any experience with front wheel drive cars would consider common sense practice. America's Tire Co will claim that it is unsafe to install the new tires on the front wheels! They will not yield from this ABSURDLY IGNORANT position that is designed to pressure you into purchasing 4 new tires when you may only need two! They claim that if there is more than 2/32 difference in tread depth between the older front tires and the new tires to be installed that it is unsafe to rotate the front tires to the rear! They won't say no - they just won't say yes either! They will hassle and intimidate you to get you to purchase another 2 tires. Even when I told the guy to just write the order up he would not shut up! He kept telling me how unsafe it would be to move the almost new front tires to the rear and have the new tires installed on the front! I just wanted the existing front tires moved to the rear and the new tires installed on the front of the car - a simple request that has been fulfilled without question by many other tire shops that I have used over the 35 years that I have owned and serviced my vehicles. Being treated like an idiot by an obviously ignorant employee who is parroting some stupid corporate policy designed to sell more tires was one of the most en-raging experiences that I have ever had to deal with. I told him to write up my order and I walked out of the office and watched the work being done on my car - when the installer was about to put the new tires on the rear I told him to put them on the front and he complied without saying anything. I got what I wanted but not without a HUGE hassle! After the job was finished, I spoke with the store manager who was probably in his 40's and he maintained the same position! It was utterly unbelievable! Just how stupid could the store manager be. Clearly the store manager and this company knows NOTHING about the importance of having the best tires on the front of a front wheel drive car! They point to their policy hanging at all of the registers that has a Michelin Tire logo on it and state that if Michelin says it then it must be true! Unless you want to be harassed and treated like an idiot - I recommend that you stay away as well. more

"America's breaking wheels " shold be the name 1/8/2008

I went to change my right front and left front tires. I brought my own tire and asked for tire replacement. Guese what? They broke my right front tire air pressure sensor. Great! The manager paid me back the the cost of the new sensor from the Lexus dealer. But, he didn't pay me the cost of the installation of the new sensor because they can do this in americas tire. Right! they did lousy job and expeted they can do it again on my car. Believe me! If you come to this place to do anything with your lovely car, there could be any possible damage on your car. more
