POOR MANAGEMENT 5/3/2012

This is an incident that happened at this bakery on 5/1/12 to an employee. This employee is a 22 years old black female with a 2 year old daughter 2 of the white female manager instructed her to go outside and wash the wheels on the cart with a tooth brush. I would like to know if this is in any employee job description to clean a wheel with a tooth brush. I took this as being offensive and racist since there were white employees there also, why pick her to do this oh by the way after 61/2 months of employment and a promotion she was fired.... we are not going to stand for this and if necessary we will shut this bakery down. This is not business and it not be tolerated... I am 59 years old and I never had to go through anything like this, this is racist and if no one see this for what it is than something is wrong with them. more

The tourist trap to end all tourist traps 8/21/2011

So when my friend visited from out of town, she insisted on going to Magnolia Bakery. I've had poor experiences with tourist friends insisting on things before, and ths turned out to be no different. The cupcakes felt like they could've come out of a box baked at home (maybe with fancier names), the prices were sadly distinctly New Yorkish, and the tourist, oh SO MANY TOURISTS. So I would give it a one star myself. My friend, though, seemed to appreciate every ""intricacy"" about the experience, and would've given it a five. Thus, I'm averaging us out, and there's your 3. But you've been warned. more

Not worth the hype 1/2/2011

Stood on a long line to wait for what I heard would be the most incredible cupcakes. Disappointed. They are not bad, but definitely not worth the high price. I bought six assorted, and 4 were dry with overly sweet thick frosting. The carrot cake cupcake and the red velvet were better (they ae also higher priced than the regular ones). Box mix cupcakes and canned frosting taste better. My kids were not impressed. more

Magnolia's (one visit was enough) 11/28/2010

It's a New York thing. If people stand in line, the product has got to be good. Not so, in this case. The store was full of tourists because of the Christmas season. There was no good traffic flow so there was a lot of chaos. Other shoppers were rude, due to the high stress level of getting into the wrong line. The clerk was pretty disgusted and rude. Check out was crowded and slow. We paid $19 for six cupcakes. We were surprised that four of the vanilla with chocolate icing were stale. The cupcakes were relatively small and they had too much icing. more

Not So Impressed - Always Crowded 7/23/2010

This Magnolia Bakery location has mediocre cupcakes and doesn't really live up to the name ...the cupcakes are moist and just ""good"", but not fabulous. Pros: Good Cupcakes Cons: Always Crowded, Feels Rushed more

columbus magnolia has no customer dservice what so ever! 9/23/2009

same people who hired the ones for the other stores? Pros: can go to the rock, or wv for the mag experience Cons: col is off, rude , caddy, mean, weird, who hired these guys? more

My Favorite Magnolia Bakery 4/8/2009

I've been to this MB 4 times since my husband and I happened to walk by it while we were hanging out at Rockefeller Center. I've never seen a line come out of the store. I've never waited for more than 5 minutes. I've been helped as soon as I stand by the counter, make a selection of the cupcake (someone behind the counter with gloves will pick the cupcake I wanted and place it in a very pretty box) and make a payment. There might be a line inside the bakery but it moves pretty fast. I love all the pretty cupcakes! My husband loves the Magic Cookie Bars! Pros: Easy access by car and train; Rockefeller Center more
