You walk in here and get the feeling that everyone thinks they are better than you...I had a terrible experience, especially with a lady named Sara at the front desk (she gave me ...

Great selection/people 10/30/2008

I have a ten year old Breitling and needed to have it serviced. Went to Alvin Goldfarb in Bellevue because I'd heard that they were the best. From Sara (who took in the watch) to Steven (Alvin's son), the people were great. I knew it would take awhile to get fixed, but it took less time than I thought, and they were great about keeping me apprised of developments. Watch is back, runs great, and I'll be back to look for some presents for Christmas. more

Alvin Goldfab - Dont Waste Your Money 4/7/2008

Alvin Goldfarb Jewelers in Bellevue, Washington is horrible. I actually had a custom ring made by them. They give you a great sell when you are looking to purchase a ring or jewelry but Alvin Goldfarb Jewelers in Bellevue fails to deliver on customer service. I have been in at least 5 times after the fact and have been treated like a second class citizen each time. I would highly recommend finding another Bellevue jeweler who actually cares about their customers even after the purchase. They are very expensive as well compared to other Bellevue jewelers. DONT BOTHER!!! If you are looking for first class service and quality, I would recommend Blue Nile. more

Rip-Off Central 7/12/2006

I have a Breitling watch (great watch BTW) which needed a basic service. This service consists of replacing the battery and the gasket, performing a watertight test and a general cleaning of the watch and bracelet. I went to Breitling's website to find the local dealer, which is AGJ. They said they don't do this work in house but send the watch to the Breitling service center in Connecticut (one of eight Breitling authorized service centers in the US). I asked AGJ what they charge for this service and was told $150.00. I then called one of the other service centers (one about 2000 miles closer to Seattle than CT) and asked for a price quote for the same service. I was quoted $52.00 for the service plus $17.50 return shipping and insurance. Granted, I will have to pay the $17.50 for outbound shipping and insurance and a small fee (estimate less than $10.00) at the UPS Store to have the watch professionally packed, but that brings my total outlay to $97.00. Subtracting the $10.00 packing fee (something AGJ would do), leaves a residual of $87.00. So, let me see: $150.00 - $87.00 = $63.00 to box the watch? I recognize that AGJ has expenses and is in business to make a profit. I also recognize that having someone else take care of this completely definitely has some value. I would not hesitate to pay a more reasonable fee for this service, but $63.00 to do so little is ridiculous in my book. Alvin Goldfarb Jewelers: For people with more money than brains. more

Quality of work and service are outstanding 5/25/2005

I have had both a ring and a pendant made from stones that were taken from other pieces. The staff helped me with design and material choices. The workmanship was fabulous and I am very happy with both pieces. They also have some really beautiful retail and estate pieces available in their cases. I purchased my husband an Ebel watch with the help of Steve (a great guy) and he loves it. They also are great for repairs to both watches and other pieces. They are truly a full-service jeweler with a long history in the community. more
