This week-long "day camp" at Alvin Community College is great. Geared toward children up to 6th grade, you select 4 different classes for your child to attend. The program is a week long, and you have a choice of two different weeks. One of the better ones for older kids is the pottery class. It's awesome! But you have to hurry because this class is very limited and it's on a first-come, first-serve basis. If you are looking for something to help keep your child busy this summer, check this program out. more

The classes were moderate in size. The teacher-student interaction was much more personal than at larger universities. The tuition cost is moderate, but much less than larger local colleges. Financial aid is available, although the paperwork can be tedious. This local college is a wonderful stepping stone to larger universities. more

This 2-year college offers a variety of certificate and degree programs. It's perfect for the graduating senior or for those wanting to go back to school to get or further their education. You will find students of all ages at this college. The advising office is wonderful in assisting students figure out what to take and how to make sure their hours will transfer to a university if that's the route they are looking for. The financial aid office will assist students in filling out the necessary forms to find out what programs they are eligible for. Student activities is always scheduling something fun and lots of events are planned throughout the semester. Lots of programs that are worth checking out if you are looking at going to school. more
