Alterations & Veils-Beatrice

When my now husband and I decided to get married we could think of no better place than to get married in Austin where we grew up (we moved to Ft. Worth a few years ago). I bought my dress in Austin and decided to have it altered and keep it there instead of transporting it to and from Ft. Worth. My dress needed several inches taken in around the bodice; where there just happened to be a lot of beadwork. I also needed it hemmed and the skirt of the dress had two layers, which I found out made for a more complicated hem. Beatrice did an amazing job on both; she had to re-bead the area where she took in the dress as well add extra boning so the dress would fit just right. She did all of this on my schedule since I could only come in on certain weekends. At my last fitting, which was two weeks before the wedding, I had lost a couple of pounds (which I wouldn?t advise). This made the dress fit a little loose around the bust. Beatrice said if I could come back in a few hours she could take it in just a little without having to mess with the beading. I came back a few hours later and the dress fit perfectly. I highly recommend Beatrice, she does a great job and really cares about the brides she is working with. Not having had many alterations done in the past, I was very concerned on who to go to for my bridesmaid dress (especially since it is 3 layers!!). \r \r Beatrice was really great. She gave me 3 fittings to ensure that the fit was exactly perfect. She does outstanding work as the dress appears to be exactly as if it had come altered straight from the manufacturer! This was a 3 layer dress and she had to alter the toughest partI am very impressed and would definitely go to her again. Her studio was professional and clean - overall good experience. more

You find the perfect dress (and it's a little more than you're comfortable paying for) and now you must have it altered and have someone you don't even know start cutting into it! It is scary, but Beatrice did a beautiful job with my wedding dress. She's very methodical, first fix the bodice of the dress, return in a week and try on the dress again. Next fix another seam and try the dress on again...until the very end when she hems the dress. It's a gradual transformation that is done very professionally. It took approximately 3 to 4 fittings until the dress was done and I couldn't believe the dress could look so much better. I was too big for the dress and needed three extra inches added to the waist - not a problem! What a relief! She was up front about the cost of the alterations (and I was up front about what needed fixing) and she remained on schedule. She constantly made suggestions and even offered to do many little details for free. more

Beatrice is fabulous with alterations-especially wedding dress alterations. I have gone to Beatrice for the past 2 years and she has altered 3 bridesmaid dresses, 2 casual dresses and a few pairs of pants. Every time I have gone to Beatrice she listens to what I want done and gives her expert advice. She takes her time and makes sure that every last detail is noticed and attended to. Every time she finished a dress, it was a perfect fit! I have gone to other alterations businesses before finding out about Beatrice and they were no comparison to the work that she does. She will always go above and beyond what you ask for and she is professional, knowledgeable, and produces a perfect fit every time! What more can you ask for! I took the dress I'm wearing to my bridal shower to Beatrice because it was a size too big. She did an amazing job and now it fits like a glove! Beatrice was fantastic to work with. From the moment I walked in I had no worries. Beatrice knew exactly what alterations were needed from first glance, and never tried to up-sell me. My wedding dress needed to be taken in and had a very complicated bustle, but Beatrice was able to complete this in just 3 fittings in a couple weeks. Most of all I appreciate that she was able to meet with me evenings, after work. Beatrice is a miracle worker! I was just in a wedding this past weekend and if it weren?t for Beatrice I don?t know what I would have done. When my friend wanted me to order my bridesmaid dress, I decided I would order it smaller than I was measuring because I planned on losing all kinds of weight. February came around and I had not lost any weight. A friend referred me to Beatrice. I called her and she told me to come right in, so she could take a look at the dress. At first I was going to order fabric so she could put panels in but the dress manufacturer wanted $200 just for the fabric! When I found that out I started crying, the dress itself had cost over $200. She told me that she could let the dress out because the seams had a few inches of fabric and maybe that would be enough. I promised her that I would do my best to drop some weight. I had 3 more fittings over the next 2 1/2 months and dropped about 20 lbs. Beatrice could have just slapped something together not caring what it looked like but when I went back for my fittings I was losing weight so she said she would wait to close the dress. I picked up my dress days before the wedding and I was afraid that the dress would look different than the 6 other bridesmaids (they all live out of state, so I couldn?t see them until the day of the wedding.) My fears were for nothing, my dress was amazing! There was another girl in the wedding who had panels put in by someone else because she had gained weight between the time she ordered the dress. My sister was at the wedding and the first thing she said to me after the ceremony was that my dress looked great and the other girl?s was horrible. I had an amazing time at the wedding and looked beautiful in my dress thanks to Beatrice. I am so glad I found her, she truly cared! She is very passionate about her work and is so helpful. \r I am wearing my mothers dress and she has updated the dress to make it my own. It's everything I hoped for and more. She is also updating my veil and is an amazing work in progress. Beatrice did a WONDERFUL job on my dress. It had a lot of bead work that had to be redone once the dress was taken in several inches. She went beyond what she originally quoted to me in how much time and work went into the dress. She just said that she wanted it to be perfect. That level of pride in your work is rare. She also custom made my veil which turned out better than I could have imagined. It was simple yet elegant and looked perfect with my dress. And yes, her prices on veils were much better than at the other bridal stores I looked at ,plus I got exactly what I wanted. She is a very talented seamstress plus just a sweet person to work with. When my $2000 silk wedding dress was almost destroyed by the seamstress my bridal shop sent me to - my mom looked up Beatrice in the yellow pages. She fixed every single mistake the other lady made, and didn't charge us extra to fix the little things she would come across. She actually cared that my dress looked beautiful, not about the money she was getting. My dress was ordered about two sizes too large for me from the bridal shop, and once Beatrice finished it, it fit perfect! She is such a sweet woman, who is honest and cares about her customers. She was a gem in my wedding planning process, and really did a wonderful job. I would recommend her to anyone - I even sent my maid of honor there to get some work done right before my wedding, and Beatrice made her dress fit great too! I came to Texas for my Wedding, and only had about 3 weeks to get everything in order. I actually found Beatrice in the phone book, and she was so friendly and helpful over the phone that I knew I had to go and see what she had to offer. I didnt want to take my dress anywhere (it is a Maggie Sottero). When I walked into her shop, she was so friendly and outgoing, I knew I had found the right place to do the alterations. She went about everything with great professionalism, and showed me a few examples of her work.\r Beatrice is a perfectionist, and wanted to make sure that everything was just right. She measured and remeasured the hems, and made sure that everything fit just the way I wanted it to.\r The finished product was absolutly perfect. I couldnt have asked for better service, and a better quality job.\r I would highly reccomend her to anyone who doesn't want to settle for anything less than perfection with their wedding dress! I found Beatrice through an online posting for wedding dress alterations. I recently moved out of state but was planning our wedding in Austin, so wanted to get the dress altered there as well. My time in town was limited but Beatrice took every chance she could to meet with me on the dress. Three fittings in four days? Not a problem for Beatrice! She did an amazing job and recommended the perfect bustle for my complicated, 9-layer, all- tulle dress. Also, she has a wonderful spirit and positive can-do attitude that made every visit so pleasant and wonderful. If you need alterations, you need Beatrice! I would definately recommend Beatrice's services to anyone! I chose her based on her reviews and they were absolutely accurate! She is wonderful. Aside from being professional and talented she was kind and courteous. She explained exactly what needed to be done to my dress and showed me some similar jobs she had done in the past before charging me anything. She was also very kind to the fact that I had just had a baby a few weeks earlier by holding my bridesmaid dress until the last minute to get the perfect fit! Well I came across Beatrice while I was searching frantically for a skilled person to work on my nightmare of a bridesmaid dress. My aunt was getting married and the boutique she ordered the dresses from ""mistakenly"" ordered us all size 8! Mind you, I am a size 4 or even a 2 maybe. So anyways.....besides the dress being way too big, the dress itself was 5 layers thick (no joke) and I knew that it was going to be a big project for whoever would work on my dress. I wanted someone who was skilled in that type of work, and luckily I found Beatrice. Originally I had taken my dress somewhere else and they refused to do it because it was ""too big of a job."" So I came home and found some reviews on Beatrice and since I had a week and a half deadline, I was definitely cutting it close. I took a chance and called Beatrice and told her my situation. She immediately told me she would be able to do it and asked me to go see her that same day. So I did and when I met her, I knew she would be able to pull it off. I checked out some of her before and after photos on her website and was impressed and had a very good feeling about her working on my dress. She told me it would be a big job, but that she knew what she was doing and had actually worked on a dress like mine before. She also offered to hem my dress up for free. She made me feel confident in her work and when I went for my first fitting, it already fit perfect. I was scheduled for 3 fittings, but she did such a great job that I only needed two. Not only did she make the dress fit perfect, but she even added in boning on the sides of my dress to give me more shape in my waist. I was sooooooo happy on how my dress turned out that now I wanted to let all you brides and bridesmaids out there know to take your dress to Beatrice because you will be 110% happy on how it turns out. This is the second time I have used Beatrice for alterations. Last year I came to Alterations by Beatrice for a bridesmaid dress I needed taken in, and I just recently went back to her with my own wedding dress. Beatrice does amazing work!\r \r When I picked up my wedding dress from the bridal shop I purchased it from, it was too big in some places and too tight in other places and I was so afraid it was never going to look or fit like I wanted it to. So, I took it to Beatrice hoping she could help, and she made my dress fit me PERFECTLY. She really did an amazing job. Beatrice knew exactly where the dress needed to be taken in and also where it needed to be let out, and she did so without disturbing the detailed bead work on the front of my gown! I first started using Beatrice when I got married in 2003. I had to have my perfect veil and I wasn't able to find what I wanted in the stores anywhere!! When I started with the larger shops that made veils their pricing for what I wanted was so high I wanted to cry. Out of desperation I flipped open the phone book and was drawn by her ad. It seemed perfect for me! It turned out she was. She quoted a much more reasonable price for my veil and it turned out beautifully! I've even had a couple of my friends borrow it for their weddings! Since then I've had two other bridesmaid dresses altered with her and they've come out great. She always gets the work done by the agreed date, her prices are so reasonable, and her work is the best.
