Should have stayed at the Marriot across the street 12/15/2011

Horrible- Do yourself a favor and trust the negative reviews- they are all true, the positive ones have to be either LUCK or FAKE. My husband ordered an incredible hulk drink and was charged $17 bucks, so I told the bartender to remove my long island iced tea order. She had not made the drink yet- there was no alcohol or anything at all in the glass (except ice). This bartender refused to remove the long island iced tea order from my drink charge- even though she had not even poured the drink yet. She ignored me and when I asked again she was very rude and told me she wouldn't remove it and that I shouldn't have come to the hotel. She then tried to force me to sign the check that was incorrect. Literally, as I was leaving she yelled for us to come back over and demanded that we sign it. I knew better than to sign it as I was not going to sign anything that said I agreed to pay an amount I didn?t owe. Granted, it was not a large amount of money. But it was the principle of the matter. Later, I called corporate and they said the next morning there should be a manager on duty who would resolve this matter. When I went to the front desk another employee sympathized at first, but when I mentioned that we also didn't receive the towels we requested she did a 360 and said no one called. Then she said room '2XX' called. I was in the room next door- what a coincidence. She continued to insist we never called. I told her that all she had to say is that she forgot or sent them to the wrong room- but that there is no reason to accuse me of not actually calling. Obviously I wouldn?t make that up and we reached someone when we picked up the phone and hit zero. She then told me she was pregnant with twins and couldn't deal with the stress I was causing her- this was within 5 minutes of our conversation!I am a very professional woman. I did not use profanity or raise my voice (Admittedly, I wanted to). This employee told me ?this conversation is over? and that if I do not leave the front desk she was calling the police. I was so upset that I decided to wait. I had seen other reviews on another popular website where the police were called, but I had assumed they were aggressive, loud, customers- Not the case. The police officer came and apparently this is not unusual. When I told him I was not being loud or cursing, he explained this is part of their "procedures at the hotel". He had them make photo copies of my receipt for the manager to review on Monday (it was Saturday and there was absolutely no manager on duty until Monday according to the rude employees). The policeman was more helpful than anyone who worked there. He simply told me that when it was time for me to check out to go ahead and leave. This is where the people of Chesapeake's tax dollars go? There are plenty of hotels nearby. No need to stay somewhere where they really don't appreciate their customers. Even when the manager finally called and left me a voicemail, there was no apology for anything. I didn't even want to deal with anyone at Chesapeake aloft so I just filed my complaint with the Corporate office and am planning to tell anyone who will listen- that this place should not be considered part of 'W Hotels'. We would have received better service at a dollar motel. By the way, the pool is slightly larger than the average jacuzzi. There is NOrestaurant. The halls are shabby. And if you ask for towels- they?ll actually tell you that you never called. I may try an Aloft again- But It will NEVER be Chesapeake Aloft. Pros: null Cons: null more
