A Great Experience 7/9/2008

Me and my wife were in the Hamptons for the weekend and went to Almond on the advise of friends. It was 4th of July weekend so the place was jammed. We had to wait for our table for about fifteen minutes but everyone was extremely apologetic and they sent us a beautiful little softshell crab appetizer when we sat down. The meal just kept getting better from there. We shared a sweetbread and rabbit terrine that was both interesting and homey. We also has had a house cured salmon appetizer that was delicious. For entrees we had a striped bass and a lamb that were terrific. At some point we got to talking to the server, and she relayed to us the chef's commitment to local and seasonal produce--it really came thru in the food. Almond's got a great relaxed, ""lived in"" vibe that you don't get enough of in the Hamptons. We highly reccommend this place more

Abysmal 6/23/2008

I recently tried this restaurant with my girlfriend and two other couples. The restaurant came highly recommended from a family member of someone in our group. It was supposed to be ""a scene."" Not like any of us were pursuing ""a scene."" In fact, all we really wanted to do on a Saturday night in Bridgehampton was eat a great meal and share some laughs. All I can say is that we shared some laughs. The food was awful. My girlfriend?s fish was bland, the stuffed veal was marinated in what looked and tasted like dirty dish water and the side orders were average at best. \r \r We decided to give dessert a try thinking that maybe we could salvage a decent experience. Unfortunately, dessert proved to be just as terrible. My Cappuccino-Chocolate Creme seemed like it was left over from earlier in the week and my girlfriend's strawberry rhubarb was too tart and overdone.\r \r However, the worst part of the experience had to be the service. Our waitress was atrocious. She forgot to mention the specials (we had to ask what they were), caught an attitude every time we asked for more water and asked my girlfriend, ""Do you have a problem?"" At that point we were all stunned. The meal stunk and our waitress was an obnoxious. \r \r It?s too bad, because the place was cool inside. It was cozy and had a great bar area, even though only 2 stools were being occupied. Now I know why.\r \r more

what an amazing place. 3/26/2008

The owner-operaters of this French bistro have gotten it exactly right. Its hip without being pretentious. The room and decor have an effortless sauvity to it. The soul-satisfying food is ,layered with complexity. I highly reccomend this place. The clientelle is a nice mix of famiies, hipsters, locals, and retirees. more

Friday night is Gay night 7/18/2006

Food was good-I had great Flounder, and others in our party had the Salmon and the Pork. Bar was busy, ambiance was good-music a bit loud. Would be better if they had patio dining. more

It's not about the food! 2/22/2005

This place is all about the owner/partner, Eric. You'll hear his booming laugh and voice throughout the restaurant as he warmly greets all his customers. And, he runs a great place! It's friendly, noisy and fun! The food is your typical bistro fare --- steak frites, burgers, croque monsieur, lamb shank, mussels and other seafood dishes. They are all nicely prepared by chef/partner Jason and are consistently good. Almond is not a gourmet restaurant and it can be a bit pricey for what it is but, it is a solid, quality, fun place! Pros: Friendly, Excellent service more

Best restaurant in the Hamptons, by far! 7/21/2004

We've dined at the Almond on numerous occasions over the last few years, and it has always fantastic. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is fun and unpretentious, and the service is excellent. Eric (the co-owner & host) goes out of his way to make everyone feel special...He greets many of his customers by name, and usually makes his way around to every table for a quick chat. Try finding that elsewhere in the Hamptons! Pros: Great Sevice, Great Food, Great Atmosphere more

Terrific! 6/3/2002

Almond might very well be in the top 2 restaurants in the Hamptons. I highly recommend it as everything we ordered was exceptional. more
