Dr. Burton Refusing appointment for 6 year old?! 8/12/2010

My mother took 6 year old boy to Dr. Burton's office in January of this year due to falling while playing football and diagnosed as having a concussion due to symptoms present at the time. Please note, he has been a patient of Dr. Burton's since birth!! Symptoms persisted for many days (as concussion/post concussions can do). She took him back to Dr. Burton's office, because he was continuing to vomit, when getting out of bed each am, after becoming dizzy. In addition, he was acting out of sorts as far as his behavior, even while at school. The teacher called my mom out of concern as well. Dr. Burton told her he had a virus. A virus that causes vomiting ONLY in the morning, when first getting out of bed...for DAYS??? He referred her to a counselor for the behavioral changes. After seeing a counselor for several office visits, the counselor advised my mom that she should go see a neurologist, because she feels could possibly be related to the concussion/head trauma. The neurologist advised my mom that they need a referral from PCP due to their office polices (not related to insurance, as my mom's insurance does not require referrals). My mom called Dr. Burton's office and was told she could bring him in on Friday. Then received another call from the office that they were canceling the appointment because they do not have a ""history"" of the issues that are being reported to the neurologist, so they cannot provide a referral. Wouldn't this be the PURPOSE of the visit on Friday? To gather information and listen to the CHILD'S issues? Very disappointing. This WAS a physician our family has trusted for TWELVE years!!!! We have taken my 15 year old daughter there since she was 3 as well as my 14 year old sister. We started noticing the changes in his office, no one returning phone calls for DAYS at a time, no response to faxes, etc. We at first tried to be understanding as we understood his practice was expanding and could not receive the ""personal"" care we had been used to. But really, shouldn't that BE expected from someone you trust with the health of your children? more

Great Doctor 2/5/2010

I love Dr. Burton and what they have done for my kids. We have a unique condition with my oldest and their treatment of her and of our family has been top notch across the board. Thoughtful and caring nurses and staff. There have been hectic times during flu season and long wait times. But I have a rough work schedule and their hours makes scheduling so much easier & gives my wife a break on taking our children to the doctor. Highly recommend. Pros: Flexible Hours/ Friendly Staff/Great Doctor Cons: Wait Time more

Swine Flu Catch! 11/10/2009

When it comes to Kid's Docs - These guys are Tops! 6/26/2009

We have been using Dr. Burton for the past 3 years and have been sooo pleased. Fortunately we've not had too many 'sick' visits, but when we do, they are prompt, spot on with diagnosis and make my daughter feel completely at ease! more

Amazing Service 11/21/2008

Last weekend my 18 month old daughter was refusing foods had fever of 103.2 and was generally listless. We called at 8.15am monday morning and got in that morning, saw a doctor and had a happy baby laughing and playing by that evening. \r \r I have been coming here for 4 years and if you like quality care by people that love on your kids then this is the place for you. Dr. Burton always addresses my kids first before he talks to me. My girls love him for that and so do we. more

Too Many Patients 10/24/2008

The doctors at AACP are great, I've never had a bad experience when any of my kids were seen (and I have 4). The office is clean and nice ... although I get tired of having televisions everywhere - they're even in the exam rooms. Can't we make it through a doctor's appointment without television?\r \r I have two issues with AACP, and they are enough for me to switch care providers. First, they have too many patients. I know they have too many patients, because you can't reschedule a well-check appointment to another day within a month of the original date. This tells me they are so tight on their appointments that they don't have any slack built in. I called on a Monday to reschedule an appointment two weeks out (things happen and schedules change, it's not like I called the day before - I called as soon as I knew there was a change), and was told they would have to check with the doctor to see if we could squeeze my son in somewhere for his 9-month well-check. I was told the next more

Insanity 3/13/2008

Some people really dont get it.\r \r Every practice in the world charges you to make copies of your medcial records. I have 2 beautiful daughters and the continuity of care provided by DOCTORS and the timeliness of the appointments have saved my girls from suffering through some serious illnesses. I have been frustrated at what I perceived as over-reacting to a fever and vomiting as we were sent to the emergency room. While not life threatening, it could have escalated without quick recognition and immediate care. \r \r I have never been to a pediatrician that is able to talk to my children and respect them like they do at AACP. They are not patients, my children are treated like family. more

Haven't seen a physician in 1 year, and they tried to charge me for RECORDS 1/24/2008

We have been taking our children ages 2 and 4 to All About Children for about a year now. Our kids have been to the doctor about once every 4-6 weeks and we haven't been able to determine why. So far we have been attended only by PA's, no Physicians. When we asked to meet with Dr. Hooker they seemed irritated. We asked to transfer to our family physician. When we asked for our OWN child's medical records, they told us they couldn't release them. After enough requesting with the receptionist, she said she would have to charge us for the records and she couldn't even do that until we had a nurse review the records. There were no nurses available so we left without getting our full medical records of our child.\r If you are seeking a personal touch, I would not recommend All About Children in McKinney, TX more

Consistent and reliable doctor?s office 2/22/2007

We chose AAC based on the recommendation of a friend. We also attended the open house to meet the staff, and we liked all of them. Overall, we?ve been very pleased with them. They offer same-day sick visits and have always seen us when necessary. Also, the after-hours nurse line is wonderful. The nurse on this line after hours is great, very helpful and very understanding. We have seen every doctor, PA, NP, etc., here, and we like everyone. more

Ive seen a doctor every time 2/7/2007

I have always seen whichever provider (read Doctor) I wanted to see, on the same day of the request. The only times I have not is when my schedule does not fit their open time, then I can select the provider and the time that is right for me.\r \r Wait times are long, but that is because they are the best in the city by far & spend so much time talking to me about my 2 yo daughter when I am back. They always see a patient. I will wait to be talked to by someone that cares. Also on their website they are opening up a new office right next door with twice the space. They must be doing something right with someone other than just me.\r \r - Heidi L. more

All About children Pediatrics 11/29/2005

I choose this doctor's office after many recommendations from friends and colleagues. My son has received excellent care by the compassionate staff with every visit. This office includes Dr. Burton & Dr. Hooker along with a nurse practioner, physicians assistant, & a lactation consultant/educator. What i really was impressed with was that there is a waiting room for sick children & one for well-child visits. The office is clean and extremely kid friendly. PROS: Same day sick visits. CONS: Always busy, but usually don't have to wait long. more
