Great variety of tea. Cool. more

Great for the Atmosphere 8/3/2010

this is a great spot for a bridal, baby shower or little girl's party because of the decor. the scones are great, sandwiches are good and the desserts are good. parties are planned almost back-to-back so you will be rushed out of there at the end of your party. overall it is a cute spot. Pros: Atmosphere, Theme Cons: feel rushed, follow-up on party planning just ok more

Warm Chocolate Cake - Need I Say More? 5/27/2010

I always come here after work for a cup of coffee and the warm chocolate cake. There's plenty of options for food, but the service can be super slow at times (and sometimes bordering on rude). I like the quirky decor, and the music is usually pretty good. Get the cake. It won't disappoint. Pros: Decor, Menu, Prices Cons: Service can be Slow more

Good food, extremely long wait time 12/13/2009

The decor with the Alice in Wonderland theme was cute and appealing to my granddaughter. However, I had a major issue with the wait time. We arrived from CT at approximately 12:30pm. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were told our wait time would be an hour and 20 minutes. We walked around for a little while, but it was really cold and we were very hungry, so we went back to the restaurant to wait out our time to be seated. We had to wait along the wall of a very tight space as other patrons kept coming & going. At first we amused ourselves playing a game, but as time went on the wait became almost unbearable, because each time I would ask how much longer, we kept being told a different time before we could be seated. One time the additional wait was 40 minutes; the next time it was 30 minutes; the third time it was 15 minutes. Finally I had to firmly ask yet again, and I believe we only got seated because it was obvious both me and my 8-year old granddaughter were extremely annoyed and frustrated. It wouldn't have been so bad if we had been seated within in the original time span we were told, but the constant delays were aggravating. So much so that when we were seated, it had gotten so late, that I found myself ordering just about anything on the menu before I passed out from hunger. I initially planned to order something from the brunch menu with the scones, because I knew that's what they were known for and I wanted to experience that. But we had a 3:30pm theatre performance, so there was no time to think about it. Although the service was quick, I did feel rushed by the waitress and she neglected to bring my granddaughter's beverage, I had to ask for it. I will say that we were offered a sample of a scone when we were waiting downstairs, which was delicious. I bought a couple of them to go and I wish I had bought more, they are very yummy! So although I was disappointed with the wait time, I may return again with my sister who is a devout tea lover and maybe I'll have the chance to eat what I planned to orginally and it will be a better experience. I wonder if the original Alice's Tea Cup has the same wait time problem?? I'll have to inquire about that. Pros: food was good, fast service Cons: too long wait time, no where to sit while waiting more

Great place for dates! 6/15/2008

I have sooo enjoyed eating at Alice's, the decor is entertaining; the music is always "on" in the background. It is fun watching the special food come out on the tall trays. Service can be casual when busy. but it gives us the time to enjoy. Staff is incredibly welcoming and warm. The wait is worth the warm chocolate cake. I enjoy the knowledgeable recommendations about the tea. As a single woman, I've enjoyed the tea infused cocktails and meeting my dates there. I have discovered breakfast at Alice's is incredible and there is no wait. Pros: ambience, food, service with a smile Cons: waits can be long on weekends more

Horrible Service, Manager with ?THE? Attitude 3/21/2008

I set up an appointment with a friend of mine at this tea house. I had heard how lovely it was and was looking forward to have their scones. Unfortunately I had to arrive a bit late, and when I arrived there I found my friend siting outside on a nearby stairway. She told me that they wouldn?t sit her without me, even though the house was pretty much empty (it was around 3:00pm in a Thursday afternoon). I a bit annoyed and went inside to ask what was wrong. I met a very furious manager, who got very angry with me for the mere fact that I decided to make a comment about his ?rule of the house?. Apparently they do not sit anyone if the party is not complete (it can be a party of 2). I can leave with that, but please, there is absolutely no need to be rude and impolite! Nope, I will never return to this place again! Lame staff! Pros: Cannot see any Cons: Horrible Staff more

Awesome Brunch and Great Selection of Tea! 2/10/2008

I went to Alice's Teacup on a whim for brunch on a Sunday with a friend. I love anything Alice in Wonderland and very much enjoyed my experience here. We did have to wait an hour for a table because of private parties taking place upstairs and in the back, but we put our name in and went to Bloomingdales and there was a table ready when we returned. I am kind of a tea buff and was happy to see an extensive selection -- I even bought a few ounces on my way out. I had the vegetarian omlette and it was absolutely delicious with lots of veggies and cook pears on the side. I even mentioned to the waitress that I'd like to have my birthday party there, and after explaining the cost decided it was too expensive. However, about a week later I received an email about having a party with significantly cut costs. Though I've decided not to do a party there (since it's too close to the date), I will certainly consider it in the future. The downside? Too many children for my taste. more

Lame servers 2/1/2008

The scones were good, the tea was good. Unfortunately the service was pretty pathetic. We got served our food after about 15 minutes (not unreasonable, but it was only tea and scones). Then, after eating, we sat around for at least 40 minutes without anybody asking us if we needed a check of if we were doing alright. Finally we had to flag down our waitress to get her to notice us (this was on a fairly slow day, mind you). We then wait 10 minutes for the girl to pick up the credit card, and then decide to just go downstairs and pay at the register. The girl gives us a look when we try to pay at the register, and then hands the card over to another girl, who ran to the back to run it through the machine before tossing it at us with an attitude. Pros: Good tea, good scones Cons: Servers are pretty ignorant more

extensive tea list and great food! 9/8/2007

fall down the rabbit hole into a yummy tea and sandwich restaurant! our favorite tea is the organic ginger tea. the tea list is extensive-- there's one for everyone. the food is so great as well. the salmon benedict is really tasty but a new favorite has been the croque monsieur which is a grilled sandwich with ham and gruyere cheese on raisin semolina bread. this is coming from someone who doesn't even eat cheese EVER! it's that good. :) it's fun to go during brunch on a saturday or sunday-- usually the wait isn't too long, if at all. also, the staff is friendly. Pros: great tea, fun scenery, awesome food Cons: at times unable to accomodate if there is a party more
