Alex's Alterations

I have been taking my clothes to Alex for years even when it was Lisa's Alterations. I remember going into the shop one day when it was Lisa's alterations and Alex measured me and pinned up my clothes for alterations. He was actually the one who did the alterations. I was nervous at first because Lisa knew exactly what my waist measurement was and she would get it right every time to where it looked really good on me. Well, after Alex did the alterations, I tried the items on and they were perfect just like when Lisa did them. From that point on, I have been going every since. I take things there all the time for alterations and he does them exactly the way I want. The key is to tell him exactly what you want or like and he will do it. He has always been professional and he is very good about posting notes on his door when he is going to step out and what time he will be back. I tried taking my clothes somewhere else closer to home just to save on gas but I was not satisfied with the work so I just continue to travel 40 miles for my alterations. I took 4 items to this business for alterations. 2 were completed to acceptable standards and 2 were not. Of the 2 that were not, one I attribute to poor workmanship and the other was outright destroyed. It appears that the back of the shirt caught on the sewing machine and snagged a wide enough strip down the length of the garment that it is unwearable. Unfortunately, I did not notice this until I went to wear it the following week. When I took it back Alex insisted that the damage did not occur under his care, which is complete nonsense. The shirt was brand new and unblemished before I took it to him, and the damage is clearly something that could almost only happen in that environment. He wouldn't work w/ me for a resolution, just refused to take any responsibility whatsoever. He is unskilled, unprofessional, and I believe, dishonest. more
