I called Alexandra Bridal after a mishap with the gown I had ordered from a different salon. I was frantically searching for an affordable sample in a certain style. When I call...

BAD SERVICE 1/13/2009

You can't even schedule an appointment with them. When you call them no one answers the phone and then when you try to schedule an appointment they call you to cancel it. Bad customer service. Cons: service more

Don't be fooled by first impressions! Classy salon has poor service. 8/13/2008

My first impression of Alexandria's was great! The sales girl was frendly, helpful, and seemed knowledgable. I picked out my gown and 7 bridesmaids dresses. When my bridesmaids (most of whom are over 5'9") were getting measured I asked several times if they needed extra length added and the sales girl assured me they would be fine. I ordered the dresses confident that everything would be perfect, but almost 4 months later I still had not recieved a fabric sample and Alexandra's was taking weeks to return a phone call. I finally recieved a fabric sample after a call to the dress manufactuer in NY. When the Bridesmaids dresses came they were-suprise too short. I was told that it was too late to do anything and "thanks for the heads up, we did'nt know that company's dresses were so short". (I'm glad I could help.) Also, I found out after the wedding that the dresses were made out of a certain material that cannot be cleaned. I think the salesgirl should have told me that the $350 dresses were disposable. She said she did'nt know what kind of fabric it was when she sold them to me and she would "see what she can do for me and call me tomorrow". That was months ago and I have yet to hear form them. I am extremly unhappy about the way I was treated-especially after spending over $7,000 with them. Pros: Beautiful Salon Cons: Terrible service more

Very Unhelpful and Rude 5/13/2008

Lazy service and mean sales people. They refused to give out a fabric swatch and refused to order my dress because they said it was too late, still 3 months before the wedding. The sales person was just rude when I asked her what I should do. I guessed from the tone of her voice that she was wrong and tried another shop. They were happy to help me buy the dresses, and were most helpful! It was the same dress from the same manufacturer, why Alexandra's Bridal refused to help me, and Bella Bridesmaids was so great, I cannot understand. Any when I asked for a swatch, Bella Bridesmaid said no problem and send me one in the mail. more

Unproffessional, terrible service, & rude 5/6/2008

I have to say that I was completely unimpressed with my overall experience at Alexandra Bridal Salon I was actually recommended to go there by a friend who told me she has purchased her dress there but gave me some warning about their service, and some additional warnings about the staff. I don't really want to get into detail about everything other than to say for a "high end" bridal salon the staff is unexperienced and completely unprofessional. I have spoken to several people who tell me that "yes" I have heard that about them but I thought it was my duty to post something for everyone to see. I would really think twice before going here for your dress. I just think that for your wedding you deserve the best of everything and that is not what you will get or receive from this salon. They do have some nice dresses but I would consider looking at other salons that may carry the same brands. Cons: Not the kind of service or attention you deserve when looking for a wedding dress more

FRIENDLY AND HONEST 3/21/2008

Alexandra's was the first bridal shop I went to on my search for the perfect gown. I quickly felt welcomed in their store. I was made to feel like a princess and they really listened to me. They brought me dresses in my price range and did not try to sneak in more expensive ones like so many other stores in the city. I felt uneasy since some of the samples didn't fit me (I am a size 12 and a few were a size 8).. They immediately were able to make me laugh about it which is a huge feat!! I ended up buying the second dress I tried on! My bridesmaids also got their dresses there. We spent three hours having a fun fashion show trying different ones on and they didn't pressured us to hurry up. This is an amazing place with some of the kindest sales people in the city. Pros: service, selection, location Cons: none more

Superb Everything... 3/21/2008

Five stars just for the damn dresses!!!!!!!!! Ahh, what a dream this is for a girl. Service is lovely, store is lovely, inventory is delightful! Prices are high but this is probably the most upscale salon in SFO. Pros: everything Cons: nothing more

TERRIBLE SERVICE, AWFUL EXPERIENCE 1/24/2008

We had an absolutely terrible experience. The staff member who helped us was out right rude and unprofessional and we left the store in complete disbelief. Additionally, the dress choices were un-impressive. We did end up liking one dress for the bridal party, but because of the terrible service and rude staff, we ended up ordering 10 of the same dress from a different store. Try Bella Bridesmaids on Union Street - much better selections and excellent staff! Cons: Rude Staff more

Horrible Service and Attitude 8/20/2007

I ordered a dress for a wedding in August. I was measured and told they would order a dress according to those measurements. When I questioned the size, I was told the dress line I ordered ran larger than most. I also paid a rush fee to have it in time, even though I ordered it more than 16 weeks before I received it (the lead time they specify for orders). When the dress arrived it didn't fit. Big surprise! The girl that measured me was quick to tell me that I had gained weight, and that this was, "a common problem with a lot of brides." She "remeasured me" and told me my bust was 2.5 inches larger, and I had gained 3 inches in my waist. Funny, my same clothes and bras fit me. Then she asked me if I "had a long torso?" When I replied yes, she said, "I should have asked that before." When I asked if the dress could be taken out a little and the straps be let out for my "long torso", she said, "I don't know, I am not a seamstress." Forced to sign the waiver, on my way out, the dress was already paid for, I had no other options. Her final comment, "if it was my fault, I would do something for you, but it's not." With the wedding three weeks away, I have been faced with working out and being on a special diet, so I can get the dress to fit, but it doesn't fix my "long torso" problem. So far I have dropped a full size (smaller than when I went in to get measured) and the dress still doesn't fit, because the torso is too short. I found it hard to believe she didn't know if the dress could be let out, it's a bridal shop! They should have ordered it a size larger if it is a common problem for brides to gain weight, better too big than too small. If I had walked in and spent $5000, instead of $450, maybe they would have given me some service. Who cares if celebrities go there. If your dress doesn't fit for your wedding, they ain't paying to fix it. Pros: None Cons: Snotty service, charged for rush, when they didn't need too more

Phenomenal! 5/12/2007

I will be purchasing my gown from Alexandra within the next month. After visiting practically all of the bridal salons in SF and back home (Cincinnati), Alexandra has been by far the best experience. My consultant, Nicole, has been phenomenal. I showed her ads of the gowns I liked, and within minutes she was pointing me in the right direction. It was like she could read my mind?in a good way?she is really great at what she does! Nicole has also brought in my gown twice from Priscilla of Boston, no questions asked, while other salons have wanted to charge $300--$400 just to bring in a sample. My experience has been wonderful and I can?t wait to start accessorizing! Pros: Nicole, Designer gowns, Atmosphere, Lighting, Huge mirrors, Being able to take photos more

Friendly, but Want Your $$$$ 5/4/2007

I called Alexandra Bridal after a mishap with the gown I had ordered from a different salon. I was frantically searching for an affordable sample in a certain style. When I called, I was assured that there were "plenty of dresses" for me to try on in my price range. When I took two hours off of work to go in to the sample sale they were having, I discovered they had only three dresses in the style for which I was searching, and all were above my price range. The woman I had spoken to on the phone was helping me, but the owner was there, also, and clearly refused to discount the dresses to within my price range, despite when I had been told earlier. The sales woman told me she would call me later that day to let me know if she could talk the owner into a lower price. I never received a call back. Pros: cute salon Cons: expensive parking, disingenuous and inexperienced staff more

skip this one 3/17/2007

Cramped quarters, pushy sales people, and the dresses aren't great. I would not recommend this place. Go to Jin Wang. You'll be much happier. more

Great place if you already know what you want 3/19/2006

They have gowns right from the magazines. The rooms is a little small...one big room with all the gowns along the outside. They do have a great mirror to try them on. They will call you every week until you tell them to stop. They carry a lot of great (but not extraordiary) designers. Cons: Selection, Commercial more

Highly Recommend 1/24/2006

The staff, selection, ambiance and quality of their gowns was unbelievable. You are treated like a queen, and all appointments are private and personal. I found the most beautiful dress and had the best time doing so. I highly recommend making an appointment at Alexandra's, you will NOT be disappointed. Pros: customer service, gown selection, ambiance more

You might spot a celebrity! 1/3/2006

I was really impressed by this very upscale Union Square store. Great service and lots of pretty gowns with edgy, dramatic cuts that other shops seem to shun. If that wasn't enough, according to a friend who works at a fashion magazine, this place attracts quite a few celebs (the latest of who is rumored to have been Katie Holmes who came in to try on some dresses for her walk down the isle with Tom Cruise. How exciting! :) more

Great shopping experience! 12/27/2005

I had a great experience at Alexandra Bridal Salon -- gorgeous dresses and beautiful vails that go with each dress. All of the dresses are very clean lined and sophisticated. Not frilly at all. The girls who work here are really pleasant as well. My only complaint is that they had to schedule my appointment almost two weeks in advance because they get so booked up. My mom was in town the weekend I called and I really wanted her to come with me. So make sure to call way, way in advance if you want to visit this shop. Pros: gresses, vails, interior more

A Must! 12/20/2005

The dresses in this store are very cool! I haven't seen anything like this anywhere else in the city. Even if you don't buy your gown at this store, you have to check it out. It changes your whole perspective on what you can look like on your weeding day! more

fashion conscious brides will feel at home 12/12/2005

this salon carries the best designers, period. i've gone in twice now. once with my friend, who bought a melissa sweet there during a trunk show, and recently with my sister who was set on getting a vera wang from saks but still ended up getting her maids dresses here. their service is like that of any other high-end retailer (a bit cool yet very professional). fashion conscious brides will feel right at home. Pros: selection, location, ambiance more

Not impressed 11/16/2005

I went there with my friend who is getting married and having gone through the experience of looking for a bridal gown myself, I have to say I wasn't impressed with their service. One, it is timed so you have a limited time to try dresses on. I felt the attendant didn't help my friend out very much. She didn't fluff the dress or offer her any accessories to try on with the dress. The dresses weren't bad and we found one that was beautiful but overall the service could have been better, perhaps even a bit more friendly and openminded. Pros: nice location more

Highly recommended 9/25/2004

Without a doubt the best bridal shopping experience in SF. The selection of gowns is stylish and expensive, but if this is what you like, then this is where you should shop. The staff is unpretentious and very pleasant. Pros: location more

Beautiful salon, great service! 4/29/2004

Alexandra is one of the most beautiful bridal salons I have been to. Its a very contemporary looking space with fabulous high-end designer gowns. I also really liked the girl who was helping me. Their staff is super knowledgeable, but also kind and attentive. I would strongly recommend them. more
