Extremely unpleasant experience on my wedding day..... 10/11/2009

Ashford, WA. is an amazing place to visit and Alexander's is a beautiful location, but I had a terrible experience with the owner that I feel should be shared with others. My fiance and I were getting married at another location in Ashford, but wanted to do a ""first glance"" session with our photographer prior to our ceremony. Because all of our family and friends were staying at the same place our ceremony location was, we needed to go to an off site location for the photos. We loved the beautiful surroundings of Alexanders, the trout pond, garden, water wheel etc. and stopped in prior to the big day to ask them if it would be ok to take some photos on the property. The woman we spoke to said that it would be no problem. The day of the wedding (approx. 1 hour prior to our ceremony) my fiance went to Alexander's with the photographers assistant and waited for me to arrive by the pond. We had a beautiful moment of seeing each other for the first time prior to the ceremony. It was private, peaceful, and amazing. On our way to take some more photos in the garden and on the cute blue benches out in front, we were approached by the owner of Alexander's. We were informed that any of the photos taken on the property would need to be sent to her prior to being used, in any way, to ensure that Alexander's was not misrepresented in the pictures. We told her that we had asked a staff member the day before for permission, but she's the owner, so I understand that what she says, goes. My complaint and poor review of Alexander's is due to the owner's complete lack of professionalism in dealing with this situation. She was extremely rude to us and had no customer service skills whatsoever. She explained that since we were getting married at another location in Ashford, and due to the fact that Alexander's also does weddings, it was like ""mixing oil and water"". Those were her exact words. All of this took place literally 1 hour prior to our ceremony. The least she could have done was take our photographer aside and explain the need to see the photos first, or at least have used some courtesy and kindness in her dealing with us since it was our WEDDING DAY. Because of this, we will never return to Alexanders. They have good food, a beautiful location, but I refuse to support a business that is owned by someone as unprofessional as she was. Pros: Beautiful location & historic building Cons: Unprofessional owner more
