If you are looking to find magic, take the drive to Alderbrook Resort on Hood Canal. I can promise that you will be mezmerized by the beauty of this resort inside and out. We have traveled a great deal and this resort is by far one of the greatest values we have ever experienced. We took advantage of one of their wonderful packages and really could not believe the cost compared to other resorts in the Northwest. We golfed, went in the rental kyaks and simply hung out and stared at the scenery. The staff was absolutly pampering on every request. Dinner was great we had the salmon and the pastry chef menu is to die for! The intire time we where wondering why we had spent so much money and time in the San Juans when Alderbrook was so much easier to get to. Pros: scenery, over all feeling of calm and relaxation Cons: you are forced to relax.... more

DON""T EAT HERE 9/17/2008

The resort has a very appealing look; however, I would not recomend it. You are very far away from anything to do other than some typical sight-seeing for Western Washington. The pool is very minimal for a place so expensive and you are very limited for food. The restaurant pretends to be upscale northwest, a pure imitation of many well known seafood restaurants in Seattle and is very expensive. The food would be considered garbage even if it was half the price. The bar which I visited a couple times was just pathetic, I went there on a slow evening while 3 rude bartenders were working and I got very little service. Their selection of Liquours is very minimal for such a ""high-end"" restaurant. I ordered a Manhattan and two of the bartenders didn't even know how to make one! The third made one for me except they have no bitters! My girlfriend ordered their blackberry Mojito and it was absolutely disgusting and was made incorrectly on so many levels and yet it was $12. I couldn't believe this and for icing on the cake they make their bloody marys with Mr. & Mrs. T mix and display a bottle of MacCallan Scotch on ice!!! I am not lying but I think I'm going crazy. And oh yeah, house wine is $9 a glass. If you have to visit or live nearby visit the only other restaurant near there which is right down the street called the Robin Hood which has been a favorite of locals or a very long time. Pros: nice looking Cons: far from anything to do or eat, expensive, restaurant is very poorly managed. more

Terrific Getaway 1/14/2007

This property is a great weekend getaway . A short float to Bremerton and then a short drive and you arrive at this resort on the Hood Canal. Rooms are very well appointed and well thought out. Many rooms have views of the Canal. I was less impressed with the cottages. \r \r The restaurant and bar offer friendly service. The wine lady really knew her stuff and recommended delicious yet affordable choices. Stay with the pasta or steaks. My monkfish was dried out. Soups are just this side of heaven.\r \r Great meeting space. Service is a little off, but hey, this is a getaway and not downtown Seattle. Try this lovely hideaway. You'll love it! more
