This place has great food, and from what I hear a great lunch buffet. I went with a large group and everyone loved what they ordered. The best part of this resturant is the service. The waiter and servers were great at explaining how we were supposed to eat our dishes and great at recomending dishes for us. They were really helpful and friendly. The waiter didn't even blink an eye when we asked if we could split the bill between 5 credit cards. A great place! more

Those were the words out of our mouths after everything we tried here! From the starter of baked pita bread, cheese & onions, to the dinners and wonderful desserts, the food was very well done. Be warned that this type of cuisine is for the most part, very different from everything most people are used to (at least it is in our case)! But if you are up for being adventurous, definitely give this place a try, you might discover a new favorite cuisine! The dinner portions are large and the price is right, and the dessert portions are blessedly small, a nice cap off to a wonderful dinner. The service overall was very friendly, attentive but not pushy, and very helpful. We loved that they didn't try to push you out the door as fast as possible. Great addition to the Austin food scene! This place is great! The lunch buffet is quick, and has a decent selection (their rice selection is second to none, by the way.) If you drink just water, you can cover a fully tummy for $10 ($9 over the summer.) Excellent lunch place if you're a vegetarian, too. The dinner menu has some interesting choices, but people new to the cuisine may feel the selection somewhat narrow. The one disconcerting thing was the tipping for the belly dancers who work there Fri, Sat nights. I'd much prefer a hat over tipping while they are dancing. Depending on when you go, Alborz will seem a different kind of restaurant. The lunch buffet is specially popular with business people on weekdays. But no matter if you order off the menu or you take advantage of the extensive lunch buffet, the food won't disappoint you. Neither will the service. And for the belly dancing fans, on Friday and Saturday nights, they have very nice (and definitely NOT slutty) belly dancers who would let you eat your dinner at peace if you are not interested in watching them. more

The hummus is addictive, the lamb is savory, and the servings are generous. Dessert is heaven. I enjoy the quiet atmosphere, which makes for a leisurely meal. The staff is helpful in explaining the dishes, if needed. Prompt and discreet service--they check on you unobtrusively. more
