I agree with D S above 5/10/2012

I took my dog and have recommended this location to a great friend that LOVES her dog. The staff is always very courteous and the Vet's are very generous with their time and knowledge. They are very kind to our pets as well and sympathetic. However I do feel like I over spent. But I guess for the peace of mind that our family members are well, there is no price, if we can pay it. :) Pros: null Cons: null more

Best Vet Hospital Ever 8/13/2011

In 2005, my basset hound had been seen by vets all her life. We moved to San Antonio and she got deathly ill. The folks at Alamo Dog and Cat Hospital saved her life, not once but several times. She has Addison's diesease, I am sure she has had it all her life but they diagnosed her, treated her, and when she was critical, more than once, ensured I received the best care at the emergency vet hospital. They are nice friendly and loving folks and are honest. I recommend them to all my friends with pets. Every year on the anniverary of their incredible efforts to say my baby girl's life I try to find a way to honor them for their work! Great place, great people and my pet love going there too! more

Hands Down, the BEST VET in SA. 11/17/2010

As I'm reading the "poor" reviews made by others, I completely disagree. I have used Alamo Dog and Cat Hospital for over 20+ years and they are by far better than other vet service in the area, including Helotes, Bulverde, Stone Oak, areas in SA. They have some of the best staff that a pet owner could dream of. If you compare the prices (even for those that don't have pet insurance), this is by comparison, the most affordable vet hospital. I have a golden and a chesapeake bay retriever and they have received world-class care. One could only wish that when we see our own PCPs for our annual checkups, we could receive the type of service that these fine folks provide our pets. more

Good people, but not thorough enough. 7/31/2010

I went to get my dogs their annual vaccines at this clinic today. The staff is very courteous and kind for the most part and seem to like what they do. The doctor was very friendly. The only thing that disapointed me was the "courtesy" exam. There might as well hav not been one performed at all. Being a vet tech myself at another hospital, I know how important just a simple visit such as vaccines can be. They never asked about the existing problems with my dogs (which they have a LONG list of being older) and even after I mentioned their conditions, they were never taken note of in the record. I also felt the physical exam was not very thorough. I'm not asking for bloodwork or anything but don't just run your hands down his back and say he's healthy. If your building a record for them, I expect an initial exam would be more thorough. Kindness is wonderful in a vet clinic but I would prefer a thorough vet over a friendly vet any day. more

Alamo Dog & Cat Hospital provides good expensive care 9/28/2009

I have brought multiple pets here (two dogs and 9 cats). The staff is kind, the doctors are knowledgeable. However, I have left at times feeling over charged. The doctors are just doing their job to try and get a larger overall picture, I do understand and appreciate their thoroughness though. I have brought in 9 cats (mine and relatives) one time I tried using a coupon , they would not honor it. geez, I am bringing them so much business, and the question was if the kitten was past his 4-6 week age as the coupon said...give me a break! one of my kittens got sick.. after many test they could not figure out what it was, they told me to check my boy in to a overnight hospital...$700 later i put a stop to it and took him home...he is fine now (my only cat now that fetches! haa) .. well after 11 spays and neuters, 11 annual screenings, and one costly emergency...I am forced to take my babies to Rigsby Vet Clinic not because I am not satisfied but because I am not rich, and need someth more

I was glad they all seem to be pleasant people. They are well concerned for your pets as you are. They ask in detail why you have brought them in to see the vet. The doctor is very thorough also. Seems to knoe his business well. PROS: Clean, Courteous, Professional CONS: couldn't really see any more
