The sushi is delicious and fresh! The service is great! What more could you ask for? I come here at least once a week and I've always had a wonderful experience!

Great new sushi restaurant in uptown Dallas! 6/8/2010

This was the old sappora sushi on Oak Lawn and I LOVE the way they have remodeled! I went in for lunch and it was buy one get one free! The staff was so friendly and nice. I loved the way they have redone the inside and how convenient it was in the middle of uptown dallas. I will be back for sure! Pros: inexpensive! great lunch specials! more

Train Wreck 3/21/2009

What happened to this place? Never went that often, but when I did, I always enjoyed it. It was kinda quirky, the service was unreliable, but the food and drinks were good and always thought it was perfect for a date... Went not too long ago with 3 friends on a week night. We walked in, hardly anyone there...we stood @ the front door and waited..and waited...and waited while one waitress stood within eyesite of us, but totally ignored us....while a waiter stood @ the bar talking to two bar patrons about what music he was going to play next.....LOUDLY over the sound system. Finally, got sat....by the waitress that ignored us....then she walked away and proceeded to ignore us again for about 5 minutes....finally the waiter/DJ (?) came over and asked us if we'd been waited on? We said "no"...he proceeded to apologize and said "Sorry, she don't know the F*CK what she is doin'." This was the first of many times he used the F-bomb while "serving" us.... Did I mention they were playing gangster rap over the sound system? With lots of f-bombs and degrading lyrics pertaining to women.....LOUDLY. It got to the point where I didn't even want to wait for the food...but my friends talked me into staying. Big mistake. All of us failed to finish our sushi for various reasons but basically we all sorta agreed it wasn't as good as it use to be and I also had a side of vegetable fried rice that tasted like someone had poured an entire box of salt into the mix. We left and 3 of the 4 of us swore we'd never go back and to my knowledge we haven't. NOW, they've started having a "live" band on weekends and since I live across the street @ the Argyle, we're being bombarded with LOUD thumping music til @ least midnight. Apparently the Management either isn't aware there is a noise ordinance in the City of Dallas, or they just don't care....and I think the latter is the case, since apparently they don't care about who they hire, what they serve or what sort of impression they're leaving people with....from what I've heard, they're looking to attract a "hip young" crowd.....if "hip and young" also means "loud, obnoxious, lewd and of poor citizenship skills"...well, they've nailed it. Ugh. Go away. Please. Pros: It's next door to Green Papaya Cons: Staff, it's new "gangster" attitude... more

GREAT SUSHI! 12/20/2008

The sushi is AMAZING here, and Sapporo is one of my favorite restaurants. Once, just walking in, the man at the bar approached me and offered me a 15% discount because I am a regular customer. Great service, atmosphere, food. Mainly empty, and you can choose your own table. Just perfect Pros: Complimentary valet service (great for Uptown) Cons: The emptiness kind of makes you wonder how they stay in business and why no one is there more

Good casual place, atmosphere is lacking 7/17/2008

The sushi here is pretty good and fairly reasonably priced. The restaurant never seems to be packed (although I've heard it is when they have karaoke). There isn't really much of a scene here, the decor is plain with white tablecloths. It is a good place to go when you are looking for something low key, don't want to dress up, or don't want to wait for a table. It is always easy to talk since it is so quiet, and I have always been happy with the food (which I was initially nervous about at Sushi Sapporo since sushi often is not fresh when a restaurant is empty). Pros: Good sushi, no wait, quick service Cons: If you are looking for a "fun" place to go, you won't find it here. more

Still a great place! 6/18/2008

So after reading a couple review of the new set up of this place I was a tad skeptical. I have been going to Sapporo weekly for over a year now and after a week long sadness of thinking the place closed down, I am happy to say that is not true. The lunch buffet or all-you-eat from the menu is still a great deal. For only 20 bucks you get to choose from all items on the previous buffet plus a lot more. You can now get edamame plus all the usual sides and now you can order any roll from there menu. I still recommend this place and will continue to go there weekly, check it out!! more

$23 for frozen vegtables 6/13/2008

Went there for lunch today and was totally disappointed. I ordered fried rice (plain fried rice w/ no meat) and was charged $23. The vegetables in the rice were obviously from a bag of frozen veggies (who puts sweet kernal corn in fried rice). I thought lunch special usually ment cheaper than normal not more expensive. I tried to flag down a waittress so I can ask about this, but since I was alone they really didn't notice me. I had to go back to work and so I just signed the receipt and left. Funny thing is, they noticed when I left and all the staff said bye. I'm never going back there. more

BRING BACK THE BUFFET!! 6/10/2008

Me and my best friend walked in today to find our beautiful SUSHI BUFFET WAS NO MO!! It's now sit down and pick out all you can eat. However thank goodness our waitress explained it, but it's only CERTAIN things on the all you can eat menu. AND it went from $15.95 to $19.95! So we order what we THINK we want and about 10 min she comes back and says we've ordered too much? We r like huh? Its all you can eat? She goes yes, but if you order, we make and you not eat, we charge you FULL price. I'm like what? I felt like the sushi natzi was standing over us thru the whole experience...and the beauty of the buffet was it was QUICK! We got there at 12:40, had to take our orders ourselves to the chefs, ask for our soup (that comes with) and it also took FOREVER!!! We got to work at 2:00! Even a guy behind us in line was complaining about how the "new" system SUCKS....takes way too long. Bring back our buffet! Pros: the sushi buffet was most definitely a PRO.... Cons: No more sushi buffet! more

Sianara Sapporo 6/10/2008

We used to love this place when they had the lunch buffett. It was fast, inexpensive and enjoyable. Today under new management we were highly surprised to find the buffett gone, the price increased, and we were actually told if we didn't "eat every bite on our plate" that we would be charged full price not the lunch price. Ridiculous. You felt like you were under pressure to eat everything and you would be punished if you didn't. We will not return and according to those sitting around us, neither will they. This place is about to loose 99% of its lunch crowd due to the changes. We were also 30 minutes late getting back to work because it took so long to get our order. more

Decent Buffet 4/24/2008

I am only commenting on the buffet. I tried it because I have heard good things about this restaurant. I was impressed but no completely sold. As usual with most sushi places that have a buffet the items on the buffet are not the pick of the menu. There was a good variety of maybe 6-8 different roles. There was also salad, egg rolls and miso soup. However I did look at the regular menu which is extensive and impressive so I will go back to try a few things off of it. Overall the meal was good. I will definitely go back. If you try the buffet be prepared to spend 15 with tax and no drink..... more

A gem hidden on a corner that might possibly be overlooked! 11/3/2006

The Volcano roll here is probably the best thing I have every had anywhere! Mounds of scallops, crayfish, and crab with some hot sauce and a cream based sauce along with the roll buried underneath it all. It is *very* rich and most people can probably make a meal out of it but the sashimi and sushi rolls are excellent here as well. The staff is attentive while not being overbearing and they have a good knowledge of the different rolls and dishes offered. Check the blackboard behind the sushi bar for daily specials and infrequently offered fish that you might find alluring (including the toro (fatty tuna) which is top notch!) Pros: Volcano Roll, Volcano Roll, Volcano Roll! Cons: Smal unassuming storefront might make some overlook it! more

BEST SAKE NIGHT 10/23/2006

WOW, They have 99 cents sake for Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. All Day and All night. They also have $4 Martini, $3 Mix Drink, and $3 Sake on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. This is the best happy hour ever. The sushi was great. So fresh. This is gonna be my favorite Sushi Place. Pros: Best Happy Hours more

Great Lunch Buffet 10/5/2006

They have a really good lunch buffet. They add more stuff into buffet such as daily special, some cook dishes, and dessert. The price is very reasonable. The Cowboy Roll is unbelieveable. The Dallas Roll is excellent. I really recommend everybody to try their buffet Pros: Cowboy Roll and Dallas Roll more

good lunch sushi buffet 8/24/2006

texas/cowboy rolls are worth the trip - some of the nigiri is not as fresh, so watch out for a bad piece here or there Pros: texas roll Cons: leftover nigiri from the night before? more

Great place for sushi 6/19/2006

I have eaten sushi a lot and surely Sushi Sapporo has the best sushi in town. They also have a various sushi for lunch buffet. The restaurant is very nice and the service is very friendly. They also have a free complementary vallet parking. Certainly will recommend this to all my friends. more

unfriendly/inattentive service 6/18/2006

I have their lunch buffet often and the only service I recieve is the water. Other than that, the staff could care less. I didn't leave a tip last time and the waiter came outside as I was leaving yelped..."You mean you aren't giving me a tip?" No service....no tip. The food is delicious and pleasant decor. more

Sushi Sapporo 4/8/2006

The service was excellent-attenetive yet not pestering. Sushi rolls were good. Edamame was good. Tonkatsu was excellent. Green tea ice cream -creamy Valet parking included. Pros: Moderately priced Cons: Good parking more

HATED IT ! 4/6/2006

What a Joke !! The worst service EVER !! Not once, but TWICE! Slow service, wait staff is unfamilur with the menu and can not explain or help with selections. Both times our food was wrong when it arrived at the table, the drinks from the bar were wrong as well (and very weak). The manager was uneffective at resolving our problems and the prices were high. There are too many other places better in the area that WANT your business. Pros: Decor Cons: POOR SERVICE more

This review applies to lunch only 2/23/2006

My coworkers and I used to go to Sushi Sapporo at least once a week primarily b/c of the value we identified with the 11.95 buffet. However, they recently raised the price of this buffet to 13.95 (17% increase). Although 13.95 is still in the average range for a sushi buffet, the value we saw is now gone. We will no longer go there for lunch. There is nothing special about the buffet and nothing was added with the price increase. Everything about it is average so I am not quite sure how they justify a 17% increase in price. At 11.95, I would have recommended this place. At 13.95, I would be hesitant to do so. more

Sushi, Sake & Song!!! 8/3/2005

One of the Best Sushi Restaurants In the Metroplex. They have an "all you can eat" sushi lunch buffet during the week. (rolls and sliced sushi) They also have flavored Sakes (I like the Apple!), and Karaoke. They just changed (8-1-05) the Karaoke to Saturdays, 9:30p - 1:00a. The show is hosted by a terrific "Cher" impersonator. The music selction is huge, sound system is great, and they have some great singers, and occasionaly some dancers that perform. You have got to check it out! Pros: good food/drinks, valet parking, lunch buffet Cons: $20+ per person, reservations sug more

Showstopping Sushi ! 7/24/2005

The sushi is sublime; the service graceful. Don't be afraid to put yourselves in the hands of the knowledgeable sushi chefs who will treat you to special creations not on the menu. Don't miss Friday nights. At 9:30pm "Mona" hosts drag queen Karaoke. She/he is fabulous as Cher and sometimes a few of her friends show up. One night a woman did a show-stopping Michael Jackson lip-sync medley with every dance move down to a T. If you have a few liquid courage shots (like Green Dragon made with green tea liquor, pineapple and vodka) from James or Donna the wonderful bartenders, you just may be the sleeper Karaoke hit of the night. They don't advertise the karaoke show, so it's never that crowded, but word has been getting around- this is the place to be Friday nights for fantastic sushi and more! Pros: free valet parking, serves late more
