Do NOT Use Sea Quest, use someone else...\r \r My family and I participated in a two day kayaking trip in the San Juan Islands in July 2012 and it was not at all as described. Due to poor planning on Sea Quest's part we spent our entire trip searching for a campsite rather than enjoying the beauty of nature around us. \r \r After traversing heavily trafficked boat lanes for most of the first day we ended up at what the guide described as ""the campground of last resort"" which was on the front lawn of an oyster farm about 5 miles from downtown Friday Harbor. We could have walked there. There was a huge wedding next door with DJ, disco lights, and loud music until 11pm. \r \r Because Sea Quest didn't properly plan for the tides, the next morning we had to carry our fully loaded kayaks out through ~ 75 feet of calf deep mud. People were losing their shoes and falling down in the oyster muck. It was only through sheer luck that someone didn't badly cut themselves on the broken oyster shells embeded in the mud. \r \r When we contacted Martine to let her know that we didn't feel like we had received the wilderness experience promised she told us that's just the way it goes sometime and essentially to suck it up. No apology, no remorse, no offer of a makeup trip, no offer of a refund of any sort. \r \r The islands are beautiful and kayaking is a great way to get out on the water. There are dozens of kayaking companies in the San Juans. Save yourself some disappointment and go with a different company that will provide the experience they promise.\r \r Update: After posting this review I was contacted by Sea Quest who offered us a voucher for a free kayaking day trip but ONLY if we rescinded this posting. Until I posted this review I could not get a response from them regarding my request for a partial refund. It is my understanding that their offer is in direct violation of Yelp's ethics policies which prohibit businesses from offering incentives to users to change or remove postings. Pretty much inline with the rest of our experience with this company. \r \r Stay away from Sea Quest and go with kayaking with someone else; anyone else! more

What a Whale of a Time! 3/14/2011

I took a 3 day trip with Sea Quest Expeditions and could not believe how amazing it really was. Everyday out on the water was another up close and personal encounter with killer whales! These large creatures were really intense and yet I felt safe the entire time. Out guide was extremely knowledgeable about these animals and made me and my girlfriend feel safe the entire time. The guide really knew how to have a good time and made me appreciate the experience that much more! The equipment we paddled with was as good as it gets. From the kayaks to the life vests, they were all top notch. I've been paddling for years and yet the guide was able to improve my paddle technique. My girlfriend had little experience and yet the guide drastically improved her technique. All and all it was a wonderful experience. I really can't express how worth it, this trip really is! more

Beautiful Encounters in a Beautiful Place! 7/15/2010

I had such an amazing time on my sea kayaking trip with Adventure Quest. I went with my mom and we were floored at how beautiful it was on the water and seeing the Olympic Mountains in the backdrop. The guide pointed out every animal we saw, from red tailed foxes to the orcas swimming side by side nearby. It was so tranquil and relaxing to move with the water and be essentially part of the environment as all of the animals I had seen. The guide did a great job in helping us appreciate the landscape and told us all the quirky, interesting facts about the island itself. I just wish the trip was longer! Next time I go back, I'll definitely go on a three day trip (at least!). If you're looking to enjoy the San Juan Islands and nature itself, go with Adventure Quest! Pros: Amazing Views more

Fantastic Whale Watching from a Kayak! 3/18/2010

I went on a day trip with this company and they did a great job. They took us right to the whales and we got fantastic looks at some close up whales. I'd never been that close to killer whales before and it really got my heart beating. I got some great pictures! I would strongly recommend this company if you are looking for a whale watching adventure in sea kayaks. First rate! Pros: Really fun way to see whales - no pollution either. more

Great Company for San Juan Islands Kayaking 3/18/2010

I really enjoyed my kayak tour with Adventure Quest. They were extremely professional which made us feel more confident as beginners going out in a kayak to see orca whales. They took us to the best place and it was awesome with whales all around at one point! I've been whale watching in a lot of places but I have to rate this as the best experience. Whales, Whales and More Whales! 2/19/2010

Last summer we an incredible kayak tour in the San Juan Islands. We had a great time with Adventure Quest Kayak & Whale Watching Trips . Our experience was indescribably phenomenal!!! We were surrounded by two pods of orcas, and because of this incredible experience with nature, I would rate the kayak trip as superb. Our sole purpose was to go kayaking with orca whales. I can't tell how happy we are that we chose Sea Quest Kayak Tours to guide us. The kayak tour was exceptionally well organized, and the pre-trip assistance and information we received perfectly prepared us for the kayak trip. The equipment's quality made the experience even more enjoyable. The guide was wonderful, intelligent, humorous, and full of information. The San Juan Islands speak for themselves. The beauty was glorious... I don't believe I have ever been so relaxed and at peace with myself after a vacation. As my boyfriend put it, 'she didn't stop smiling from the time we got back until she fell asleep that night'. Every second was magical. Every sunrise - every moonrise.
