I went here as part of a group lunch, dreading every moment because #1 - the lunch was going to be in the financial district and #2 - it was going to be pizza. To my delight, I found the outdoor cafe ambience to be probably the best in the city. NY, unlike Europe, does not have many narrow cobblestone streets left, much less streets that are blocked to traffic. It makes for the ideal outdoor eating situation, far better than the table set on a sidewalk that is wafted with car fumes. I could have been in Cinque Terre. The tableware is elegant, if you care about such visual and tactile pleasures. An earlier poster mentioned they didn't think it possible to be addicted to an arugula salad. They are right. This light salad leaves an astonishing impression. The pizza is on par with Patsy's, if not better. As for the service complaints, I understand both sides. The place is popular and they want to keep people moving yet the atmosphere is so viscerally pleasant you really want to linger.
Pros: Superior outdoor cafe ambience for NY
Cons: Some say service is sketchy, but since when has NY been known for great service?
