I have lived at apartments managed by Active and they are everything but. They do not respond to complaints, it's hard even getting them to respond to any emails. Neighbors are loud and their dogs crap everywhere and Active will not help. The outdoor lights did not come on until 10 or 11 pm and it took months to get then to change the timer despite the dangers (including stepping in dog crap). Even though they have the account with Time Warner they make residents deal with the company when the Internet goes out, so I have spent hours trying to explain to Time Warner why I need help on an account that isn't mine. One day Active left a note saying painters would be there the next day. The painters were there for a month with no word from Active when we would stop being woken up in the morning at 8am. Take my advice and DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM. And, FYI, a partner company is Uptown Reailty, so stay clear of them too. Check out Active's Better Business Bureau rating (spoiler alert: it's an F). more

Active Property Management is literally the worst management company I have ever worked with. Uptown Realty is a separate part where their realtors match you with a place to live while Active Property actually is a 3rd party management company. First off, they told me my apartment would be finished on June 15. Then July 15th. Then August 1st. August 25th. Then while I'm gone, I'm notified that my apartment will still not be done while school starts. Now, it is Active Property Management's JOB to oversee construction and put pressure on construction companies to ensure that properties will be done in time for tenants. Well, they completely failed to do so and put an entire complex of college students in limbo for a couple of days. Then they tried to place us in a hotel that didn't even have a bus route that went to campus (not everyone has cars). And then we had to go in and complain (multiple people) before they even found a hotel in downtown Austin that had a bus route kind of near it. \r \r Next, they told us it would be done Labor Day weekend. Then it was the weekend after that. We are now going on our THIRD WEEK in a hotel! And not only that, but we are required to pay rent while staying in a hotel. All of us have called Joe Yager multiple times and he always only responds in a short text message or he has his ""secretary"" call you who's a girl to figure out your problem and then you get no response back. And actually I have called him twice already today and no response. WHAT KIND OF COMPANY IS THIS?! How do you not respond to your ""future tenants""? Then Krystle Nixon was the previous liaison and when all went to hell because no one at the office would respond to people's emails and phone calls, we get an automated message from her that she was having her last day at the office. So we instead contact the other two names given to us who were supposed replacements of Krystle and oh what do you know, NO RESPONSE. I have never met such an irresponsible bunch of people. They are not helpful at all and take no responsibility for what is clearly their fault. And it is ACTIVE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT'S fault. I even met the owners of the complex we are living at and they were so nice. They hired Active Property to handle the construction situation since the owners live in California. Obviously Active Property has no idea how to run a business. \r \r I will never suggest anyone to work with them. It has been complete hell and they don't even try to work with you. I was really nice about it in the beginning trying to understand and when they wouldn't respond to calls, texts, or emails I decided enough was enough. I know there are tenants currently actively pursuing lawsuits as well. \r \r Oh, and the cherry on top is that Active Property told us that parking was included in the hotel. Today, one of us got billed $300 for parking. Awesome. more

Active Property Managment is great! 6/8/2010

We leased our apartment through Uptown Realty and we loved our real estate agent. She was awesome and super helpful. Active was our managment company and they we great! Any time we had a problem they answered our questions or came out and fixed the problem as soon as they could. Our managment changed to Everyday Properties and they are awful!! They have no idea what that are doing, I wish we had Active back, they always knew what they were doing and we always super nice!! Pros: great customer service and maintenance more
