My first visit Abdallah's Bakery many years ago got me hooked. The friendly family-owned establishment always gives better authentic Lebanese food better than anyone else in town. Also, ever since the remodeling after hurricane Ike, the exterior is much more up to date and brighter; though it never was a deterrent before. Inside is low-key and pleasurable. Choose your meal of choice from the steam line, and shop for spices and packaged sweets, then be ready to get rolled out to your car since you'll be so stuffed! more

Abdallah's is one of those authentic hole-in-the-walls that makes the Houston restaurant scene so varied and unique. You probably wouldn't think about stopping in when seeing the exterior of the building for the first time; it is rather weather-worn. However, while you won't find an elegant atmosphere inside, you will find a comfortable, relaxed, quaint sit-down deli environment in which to enjoy the authentic Lebanese-style cuisine. Over the past three years I have been greeted and served by the same group of staff whether for lunch, dinner, weekday, or weekend. \r \r Prices currently range from $6 for a schawerma sandwich or 4-side vegetarian plate to $10 for a daily special plate. With numerous tastey side dishes and pastries to choose from, this regular customer always finds just the right combination to leave content and happy.
