First, I just read a review that criticized the service at Aquagrill ? my experience was just the opposite. The waiter (Chris) was on top of his game ? he was friendly, jovial, and very informed about the menu. He gave us a great run down of the wines and picked out a great Sauvignon Blanc for us (actually two of them). In any case, the waiter and the accompanying bus staff was extremely attentive ? keeping our wine glasses full (as the wine chilled) and delivering our various dishing on time and without unnecessary overlap. Totally accomodating, very friendly and very attentive service coupled with delicious, filling and perfectly seasoned dishes. Beware the bussers, though. They don't get it. Still, I'll go back and back again. Pros: Incredible food, friendly service. Cons: Can't think of one. more

You should totally try this place out. That was the most incredible salmon I have ever had. The tuna carpaccio with avocado, onions, and some kind of citrus element were phenomenol. After a stint of negative mojito experiences in the recent past, my friend asked the bartender to make him one. It was incredibly good. What a relief. Those bad mojito streaks are so unfortunate. First, let me say an allergy to seafood keeps me from really rating the food. I went mostly for the company. But the chicken, the sides, the dessert were all good. My friends LOVED their food though. But the truly wonderful thing about Aquagrill was the service. The hostess could not have been more pleasant. She was helpful and smiling and accomodating all great things since we walked in without a reservation. The waitstaff were also really great. I'd go back just for the service. I love the oysters here...also the tuna carpaccio is to die for....the service is great and friendly. However the host or manager was rude to us. I sat at the bar (as I do every time I go in) we drank and ate...our bill was incredibly high (which was fine that's what we spent) but the host was hovering over us pointing out our seats to someone who was waiting for them...and when I stood up, he let them come over to our seats...before I was even done with my wine...when two people spend over 300 dollars on dinner at the bar...try not to rush them out...it's rude and disrespectful Pros: almost everything Cons: rude host....makes clientle feel unappreciated more

If you consider service important, this is NOT the place to dine! My friend and I took her mother here for her birthday and ended up leaving with grief. Food was decent, but the service was beyond what I could comprehend. To begin with the host at the door? he not only mispronounced my last name, but when I corrected him, he made a joke out of it. I remember hearing this remark when I was in 4th grade, ?Cheng, Chung they?re all the same.? I was so shocked and replied, ?NO?, but he disregarded me along with the noise in the restaurant. I didn?t want to make a big deal out it; in fact, we were there to celebrate a birthday so I let it go. For the most part, our horrible dining experience did not end there. The server who served us bread and cleared our table was rude. He almost threw the dishes on our table and tried to clear the table without even asking. Seriously, I DO NOT recommend this place. My friend and I took my mom to Aquagrill for her birthday dinner. The food was great, oysters were delicious. Saving grace was that the waitress & manager provided good service. As for the host at the front and the busboy/server, we were very disappointed and left annoyed. My friend made reservations under her name and the host mispronounced her last name. How hard is Chung to pronounce? he called her Ms.Ching. No big deal, it happens, so she corrected him. his response was ""Ching, Chung, what's the difference, it sounds the same right?"", laughed and thought it was funny. We didn't find it so funny. She replied, ""No....?"" and we were left perplexed that a Host at a good restaurant could have such poor taste in humor. We expected better manners from the host of a restaurant in Soho. We ordered a sharing platter and sake. it was delicious. We were not done with the top plate and the server/busboy (not our main waitress) comes by to ask us to remove the remaining food from the top plate so he can take it. what the? I don't think i've ever experienced a server/busboy come to make a suggestion before that we should eat faster so he can take the plate! We said ""we're not done."" Then, my mom went to excuse herself for a minute; she still had food on her plate. My friend and I were getting ready to order some more oysters. The same server/busboy comes to remove our plates, including mom's. We said ""she's not done with that."" He looked at us like, wha? I am annoyed. Before the food arrived, I didn't like the way he put down our bread & plates either but i let that pass (not the careful placement of plates that a server should be trained to do effortlessly, but a sloppy gesture of i don't want to be here attitue). His rushing us was really rude. After mom was done, he comes back and says ""now can i take it, is she finished?"" Obnoxious. Where did they get this person and who forgot to train him? I DON'T THINK I HAVE BEEN TO ANY OTHER PLACES IN NYC WHERE HOST AT THE DOOR CAN BE THIS RUDE. WE HAD OUR RESERVATION AT 6 PM FO 8 PPL AND OUR CROWN SCATTERED IN FROM 6:20 ONWARDS. BY 6:30 6 OUT OF THE 8 HAD ARRIVED AND WE WERE SEATED. WE KNOW THE RULE; SO WE STARTED ORDERING COCKTAILS AND OYSTERS AND WHILE WAITING FOR THEM TO COME, THE MALE HOST CAME TO OUR TABLE AND SAID, ""GUYS, I HAVE A BAD NEWS FOR YOU. YOUR RE. WAS MADE AT 6 PM AND THIS GUY ""FINGERING A FRIEND OF MINE"" GOT HERE AT 6 25. WE WILL ONLY HAVE YOUR TABLE UNTIL 9PM BECAUSE I AM GOING TO HAVE A LARGE COMING AT 9PM AND THEY WILL BE ON TIME!"" I SAID, ""OK, WE WILL TRY!"" AND HE FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY AND SAID, ""DON'T TRY; JUST DO IT."" AND TURNED HIS BACK AND LEFT OUR TABLE. WE WERE FREEZED BY WHAT HE'D JUST SAID TO US.
