MOST AWESOME!!! 11/28/2011

Tim was straight forward, no BS!!!! Aatco fixed my car for exactly what he quoted and it was done in 1 day! I am very impressed with their service and I have already recommended them to a co-worker. They are very friendly, fast and professional! Highly recommend!!! more

Best Service Possible 5/18/2011

The last honest transmission repair shop? 5/17/2011

My experience with car repair shops over my 40+ years has been less than ideal but Tim Schroeder's crew at AATCO Transmissions has regained my faith that there are honest, high quality repair shops still around. My transmission went out, mainly due to shotty work at another car repair shop, and I was very nervous about trsuting someone with a new transmission. Beside being hundreds cheaper than other palces I checked, AATCO Transmissions did a great job and brought my car back to life. As with any repair on an old car it sometimes leads to other things breaking which I brought in to AATCO for them to repair also...I have never written a review before bt had to sign up to give this company the ""props"" they deserve. If you need a new transmission this is the place! Thanks Tim for being there for me when I need! more

Portland Metro's Best Transmission Repair 1/27/2011

Tim?s AATCO Transmissions provides excellent service at a reasonable price. All my problems were resolved and my transmission functions as it did when the car was new. I highly recommend Tim?s for any transmission malfunction. The location is 13980 SW TV Hwy and it is accessible from anywhere in metro Portland. more

Highest Knowledge, Honest work, Excellent Customer Service 10/29/2010

These guys are the best, honest and NO GAMES, look no further!! I have an intermediate level of mechanic experience and knowledge, so I really hate getting jerked around but here you dont get any of that! I have a 1998 F150 4x4 with the notoriously problematic 4r70w auto transmission. I had the pleasure of dealing directly with Tim himself who is extremely knowledgable and looking out for your best. Not only was their price great but they use new update kits and tune it for the best performance, unlike most competitors in the area. Will definitely go back and send friends and family! more

Best Car repair in Beaverton! 10/27/2010

We have had a car sitting for sometime waiting for our son to be old enough to drive it. Well, that time came and the clutch was completly gone. We took it to a chain shop and they quoted us $1800!! We looked around some more and were recommended Tim's AATCO Transmission by a friend. Their quote came in at $629 for the exact same work! We ended up needing a starter too, but it still came in at 1/2 of what the first quote was. Not only that these guys are great to work with and had out truck back within a couple of days. I will definitely go back to them and recommend everyone I know! more

Very Fair and Honest! 9/15/2010

My son needed a new clutch on his 1990 Toyota Supra. We called around and felt very comfortable with Tim. We were given a firm quote on the phone for the repair and Tim stuck to that quote! There were no hidden charges once we came to pick up and pay for the car. Tim went beyond just doing the clutch, he found a crack , (which my son had just recently descovered a few days before, but could not locate) Tim found the crack and even repaired this by welding it for us) Now this would have cost much more had we needed to take it to another shop to do this, because they would have needed to drop the transmission, clutch, etc..... to get to this part to weld. This would have cost us hundreds of dollars more to get done! Tim did all the repairs in about 1 day. We would refer all our friends to him. Great job Tim! Thank you! more

Honest and Fair... 7/30/2010

Tim (the owner) was very helpful and took the time to explain to me what seemed wrong, helped me weigh my options (which included not giving him my business), and didn't pressure me into anything. He cut me a great deal as both my clutch and transmission were shot, saving me at least $200 from anywhere else that I checked with. He even took the time to explain how the transmission and clutch work and why mine had failed, then showed me the actual parts afterwards so I could better understand. Still running great a year and about 25,000 miles later. Thanks!! Pros: Very honest, cut me a good deal, friendly and helpful. Cons: A bit tough to find, set back from TV highway a bit. more

Awsome and Honest! Thanks, Tim 6/4/2010

My wife's Mazda 6 was having a clutch problem where it would not engage into gears right away while travelin' down the road. We new it would probably need a new clutch, but needed to have it looked at. Took it to Mazda first where they charged us $110 to ""DIAGNOSE"" the problem. It took 7 hours with our car to do that. They also said the starter was bad and needed to be replaced. New Clutch, Starter, rear main seal, labor and parts from Mazda?...$2,680!...I was recommended by a friend to call TIM'S...explained the problem over the phone and he told me to ""bring it in in the morning and will have an estimate within an hour...no diagnostic charge"". He found the same problems Mazda found, to be sure, but laughed when I told him of the estimate from them. He had the car completely finished within 24 hours and the car is smooth as silk now. Total charge from TIM'S?...$1190!!!...And GUARANTEED the work. I think saving me $1490 is well worth my time to take to write this...I would trust TIM, DAN, and his crew with all my car and truck needs from now on, and recommend them to any of my friends for theirs. Thanks a lot guys!...I learned something that i thought was gone in that business...There are some honest ones left out there and TIM'S is one of them! Pros: Hard to find honesty and integrity Cons: None known more

Amazing Service 2/15/2010

My first time buying a car, and after 8 months, the clutch went out. The dealership wanted to charge me 100 just to look at it. I called Tim's, and they diagnosed it at no charge and gave me a great price. As a young lady who knows absolutely nothing about cars (except how to put oil in) it was very nerve recking to go through this, but they were very courteous and gave me excellent service. They even stayed late so I could pick it up after work. Overall a great experience and recommend to anyone! Pros: Friendly, Informative, Low price more

Good transmission shop westside! 2/3/2010

Had a 91 Volvo with no OD --- Brought in with a coupon for trans-oil change and my own part. They did a nice job by replacing old fluid and installing the OD solenoid. Price was reasonable and was done when promised. My old fluid was in dire need of exchange. I now have OD and VERY clean shifting for all gears. Thanks!! Pros: Friendly; Fast service; Good price more

Tim's atco transmission 1/26/2010

I drive a 2004 Chevy Tahoe and was refered to Tim's atco transmission due to a problem i was experiencing, so i called a tow truck not wanting to cause further damage to the vehicle. I was embarrased but happy to find that someone probably me had just bumped the 4 wheel low button and the noise and resistance was just me driving in 4 wheel low. I am sure that if i hadn't gone to an honest and professional repair shop that I would have been sold something I didn't need. I am grateful that a friend refered me to someone like Tim that i can trust not only to work on my vehicles but someone I will refer to all my friends and family. Tim also performed a free inspection and tested the sensors on my car. The only reason I had to open my wallet to put his business card into it, so I can refer anyone who asks. Pros: Honest and Professional Cons: cannot think of any cons great repair shop more

Best Service 7/23/2009

When my clutch went out in my car, I called around and nobody could match Tim's quote. He said he could get it right in and out the next day. He delivered on that, it was done when promised at the price promised. more

Excellent Transmission Shop 7/6/2009

Earlier this year, I was visiting family in this area and my car was suddenly in need of transmission repair. I was quoted $2600 from a competitor. Then, I called AATCO and spoke with the the owner,Tim. In my opinion, his demeanor was that of an honest businessman. His quote was much lower than the competitor and he was also able to arrange for my car to be towed to his business by ROB'S TOWING who was very fair and honest as well. Pros: fast, fair, and honest more

poor service 4/20/2009

I took my car here for a free transmission check because my car was slipping. They told me that I was going to need a new transmission, which i cant afford so i took it to another shop for a second opinion. The other shop told me that it was two quarts low. They put the oil in and my car has been running great ever since. I should have listened to my friend and never went there because they had a bad experience too. more

Great Service and Integrity 11/21/2008

After a round trip down to Ashland, my older Subaru wagon started slipping on acceleration. First shop I took it to near my home was booked, but fortunately referred me to Tim's AATCO shop. Easy to find on the south side of the Tualatin Valley Hwy, halfway between Cedar Hills and Murray Blvds, across all those car dealerships. Tim himself was personable and, important to me, a good listener. I could see that they were busy, but right away he called a mechanic out to do a quick inspection simply to see what might be involved in a repair. I was impressed because usually lazy shops with too much business don't even look at your vehicle, but just worry about scheduling you in for later. Anyway, that's how I read this triage move by Tim. It's how I would run a biz too, since an inspection can be done quickly. They identified the problem - very low fluid level due to leak from a failed filter/gasket - a simple fix, and squeezed me in while I waited. I was a happy camper. They also took time to explain the probable cause: fluid loss happens during higher pressure while driving, but only a few drops show up on the garage floor at rest, plus, an earlier repair probably only changed the cheaper part of the 2-stage filter, an imperfect fix that encourages seal failure. They could see the fluid residue under the whole undercarriage. Tim reminded me to come by in a couple weeks for a quick follow up check for leaking, at no charge. Sorry for my long story, but clearly Tim's shop is as good as it gets. Your car will be very glad you brought it here. Pros: simply good service and follow up more

One Honest Transmission Shop!!! 11/18/2008

This is one honest transmission shop!! I had taken my vehicle to a transmission shop about two miles away from Aatco for a routine service of having the transmission fluid and filter changed. About an hour after dropping it off, I received a call from this shop telling me thing weren?t looking good for my transmission. Metal shrapnel and other metal deposit were seen in the pan, and that it was only a matter of time before my transmission would begin failing, and it would be best to have a rebuild performed before this happened. The transmission has been running fine for me; no hard shifting or any thing like that so I became skeptical. After reading the reviews here on city search, I called Tim, and explained the situation. He recommended I have the service completed, and bring it over for a second opinion, which I did. Tim?s staff test drove my vehicle, and told me the transmission was fine. They checked out the work the other transmission shop performed, and discovered that a pan bolt was busted off; there was no reading on the dip stick, and they didn?t replace the external filter. Tim?s team redid the service, drilled out and replaced the broken bolt at a very reasonable price. A small price one must pay for finding an honest shop! more

Takes great care of customers 6/26/2008

I brought my SUV in because of rough shifting. Aatco quickly found that the last shop had failed to install a pan bolt and filled up the fluid 3 quarts too low, too low for the dipstick to measure. The kind mechanic replaced the bolt and filled the fluid for no charge, on top of spending 15 minutes driving the car to emulate my problem. I had to beg for him to accept some money for the fluid. This is the most honest shop I have been to, it's no wonder they have a perfect rating. more

Everyone with transmission problems come here 2/15/2008

I went to another place to fix my car and they told me I needed to get a new transmission. Which would of cost us $2000 plus. So I called Tim and he told me to bring it in. He fixed the small problem and didn't charge me. I will always bring in my van for work here. Thanks for doing a great job. And a quick one. You and your team are great. more

Will use them again without hesitation 11/26/2007

They could have said that the whole transmission needed to be replaced. I would have never known the difference. Instead, they did a free diagnostic and found that it was only a sensor, which they replaced and then serviced the transmission. We came out owing much less than we thought. In talking to another 'car guy' about our experience there, he said that what we received was right on the mark and for a great price. Pros: Fast Service, great customer experience more
