Editorial review from Citysearch 8/3/2012

was hoping to at least get a phone call back from A1 regarding my horrific experience so I did not have to go public with my negative review, but obviously I was not important enough to warrant such call, so here I go...\r \r Pick up was on time (actually 5 minutes early), 4:10 am. Driver was putting car seat for my 4 year old son in the backseat and said he'd be done in a few minutes. I said great, I'll go wake him up and get my bags. 15 minutes later he is still trying to get the seat in. We needed to leave by 4:30 LATEST to insure i'd be able to get through security and have 15-20 minutes at the gate to deal with my child (food/bathroom) at 4:30, seat is not in, i even tried but was unfamiliar with the latch system on the seat AND in the car. So I was forced to HOLD DOWN MY CHILD IN HIS CAR SEAT the entire 45 minute ride to Newark airport. It was an awful thing for any parent to do but the seat was not secure.\r \r When I arrived at the airport the driver was very apologetic and immediately gave me the card and number of his boss. When I returned home I called and spoke to the nastiest woman (how she is in customer services is truly a mystery) and she never once apologized she immediately said 'WELL, IT'S THE CUSTOMER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO INSTALL THE CARSEAT' This was never told to us and how would I know how to put a strange car set in a strange car? After several phone calls with this person including one where she told me 'YOU KNOW, THIS CALL IS BEING RECORDED!' (I said great! maybe your boss will hear how you speak to customers) I finally got in touch with the VP Jeff. I left 7 messages in 2 weeks with no return call. FINALLY I called and he answered and said he had been ill with strep throat etc. He was VERY kind to me on the phone and said he would review the call and my issues and promised he'd call back.\r \r It's a good thing I didn't hold my breath because it's now 3 months later and, well, you guessed it...never heard back.\r \r A1 is NOT the only game in town and I'd rather spend 2x what I spent for that disastrous and potentially dangerous car ride to the airport, then to use A1 again. more

They are either incompetent or dishonest 2/10/2012

For several years, I used the services of ""A-1 Limo"" approximately once a month for airport transportation to-&-from PHL, EWR, and JFK, with almost no complaints regarding the drivers, though the cars are not always maintained as they should have been (regarding interior cleanliness and functionality). However, I have had numerous serious problems with the administrative and billing end of the business. The charges are often invoiced incorrectly, and always in their favor. The amount involved is usually small (less than $25) and, when brought to the attention of the Accounting Dept., I am usually promised a prompt refund. But that is as far as it goes -- the promise. Actual refunds are never issued and, if pressed, the accountant will refuse to accept my call, and e-mails will be ignored. I have taken such grievances as high as a V.P. of the company, but to no avail. Customer service is simply nonexistent. So, if you do business with A-1 Limo, carefully check the billing statement you receive, as this company has devised clever ways of concealing over-charges and their customers must verify every detail of an invoice. A-1 Limo is not a monopoly though they may do business as though they are, and I now patronize a competing company which adheres to much better business practices. more

Impossible to work with, poor Customer Service 11/7/2005

From the get-go, this company was extremely difficult to deal with. In booking the cars for a recent wedding, the customer service reps were confused, uninformative, rude, and unhelpful. Moreover, they have now completely messed up the billing for the wedding and the CFO of the company refuses to return any phone calls or emails. The company accounting person recognized their mistakes, but was unable to remedy the situation on her own. I would avoid working with A1 Limo. Very unsatisfactory experience. Cons: Poor customer service, Poor billing records more
