I called A1 for my (70 year old) mother in law. They quoted the best price on the replacement of the spring on her door. So, I opted to book the appointment. The tech came out and finished the work when he ""noticed"" metal shavings on the top of the garage door opener. He proceeded to tell my advanced aged mother in law that her garage door would fall on her or her sister if she didn't pay for a replacement of the gears in the garage door. Thankfully, she declined. I arrived to her home a couple days later to scope this fiasco out (through my ire). I noticed NO metal shavings. AND, I went online to discover that the gears for this opener were NOT metal at all! I even found out that the replacement parts (OEM) are less than the hundred dollars that she was quoted. Some $50 to 80 less! Also, the labor could have been done by a NON-Professional in less than thirty minutes. Their price? Over $250 for the additional repair. To make matters worse, I locked the garage door back into the opener, not knowing what to expect (after my mother in law has been locked out of her garage for a week) and it opened just fine! It's a miracle! Be wary of these guys! Bad! Bad! Bad! more

OKAY, Here is what happened, I had three estimates. Let me just tell you the crooks in this business, the quotes were all over the board. One of the companies wanted $680 for springs and rollers :( I finally called A1 Garage Door Service out because they have a free service call. The man came right out and said how much he liked working for the company and stated they are A rated in the better business bureau. He pretty much cut the competitions price in half which was astonishing. I would recommend them and say they did a job well done. He left his sticker up and the staff at the office was extremely professional. Great work more

Their mail flyer advertised they had the best price for spring replacement in the valley. He charged me $270 for the spring replacement which I found out after the fact wasn't cheap. To make matters worse they tack on an additional $12.95 fuel charge. The installation was fine, but if you're looking for a good value, be sure to price shop around first. \r more
