Awesome school! Awesome staff! 3/28/2011

I have 2 children at A Child's Reflection and we've been attending for over 3 years. I couldn't ask for more! A Child's Reflection offers exactly what I need (and want) for my kids - education, social development, caring and amazing staff, and FUN!! As the first in our family to use any type of daycare, I was an emotional wreck thinking of my babies being anywhere but with me. I did a TON of research and toured everywhere, and after 3 yrs I am still confident I made the right choice for our family. My now kindergartener started his year with ease, thanks to the prep he had in pre-K, and my daughter, who's now 4, is on her way to an easy transition as well. A Child's Reflection is more than a daycare to me - it's a place where I know the teachers and the admin staff care about my children and I couldn't ask for more than that! more

Great Place for my kids!! 3/23/2011

My child has been coming to A Child's Reflection since he was 12 weeks old. We love this place. All the teachers love my son, and it makes it easy for me to leave him each day and go to work with no worries. I would highly recommend this school, the teachers and front desk staff are great and always accommodating to our needs. more

Best School in the area 11/10/2010

We came to child's reflection after a close friend could no longer watch my child. I was so scared about trusting a daycare to take care of him. WOW did my son ever thrive. He was given the best educational start a parent could ask for as well as the balance of nutritional eating and age appropriate activities. Most importantly he loved being there. I can absolutely trust the staff, management, and the owner to provide the best care for my child. Thanks ACR!!! more

LOVE IT!! 11/9/2010

We came to A Childs Reflection after our original day care decided they were going to close. Our option at the original school was to transfer to another location which we did for 1 whole day. It was horrible!! I picked up my child and drove directly to A Child's Reflection. I called them on my way (which was at closing time) they told me to come in anyway. They were so kind to walk us around and show off their school. That was 5 years ago when my son was 6 mos old. Now, he is in Kindergarten and goes back to ACR in the afternoons. We have had nothing but a wonderful experience there. My son actually loved to go to school and ABSOLUTELY LOVED his teachers. I am amazed at the curriculum and the clever ways they teach. They really prepared him for Kindergarten. More importantly, they took care of him and loved him. These were exactly the type of people I wanted taking care of my child when I was working. I just can't say enough. My husband and I were both pleased with this school because our child was safe, happy & loved being there. Who doesn't want that for their kiddo? Regarding Ms Lizcano's post: As an ACR parent, I can assure you that the school has always taken the best safety precautions with the kids. I have been on field trips with the school, I have walked in their school unannounced and at random times of the day - and I never once felt like my child was in any danger. To ACR: Keep it up!! more

Lots to Love 10/28/2010

I have put both of my children at A Childs Reflection and both of them have loved it. Both of my children were at in home care prior to A Childs Reflection and I was worried how they would adjust. The staff made it very easy for both of them. My son went there for 3 years before he started school and within the first month I could see a great change in the quite shy little boy. He became very outgoing and loved going there every day. My daughter who just turned 4 just started there this year and also can not wait to get there in the morning. I love the staff and was happy to see there were still most of the teachers there that my son had 4 years ago. You have to have security in a low turn around of the staff. Everyone calls my children by name even the teachers that are not theirs. I researched and visited several other daycares in Katy. I even enrolled my daughter somewhere closer to home. However, after only 3 days I realized it was not the right place. I moved her to A Childs Reflection - way out of the way and lost money at the other day care but well worth the piece of mind. more

NURTURING ENVIRONMENT FOR YOUR KIDS 2/22/2010

My child has been coming here since she was 18 months old. She is now 4 1/2 yrs old. She loves this school. The staff is very friendly and attentive. They are also so accomodating when you make certain requests for your child. The teachers seem to love their work and it shows through the nurturing interactions with the children. Staff turnover is very low - most of the teachers from the time my child started school is still there. The entire staff seems to know my child's name from the very beginning. The moment she walks through the door, they address her by name and say good morning to her. (They also do that to my son, who only goes there during the summer). Somehow, they create a very comfortable environment to be in and you feel reassured that you made the right decision by sending your child there. . Pros: dedicated teachers Cons: congested parking lot during peak hours more

Even infants learn here 10/12/2009

The curriculum here is wonderful. Infants are taught sign language, not just babysat through the day. 1 year olds are taught the alphabet, numbers, colors and shapes. Pros: curriculum, teacher-student ratio Cons: ""check-in"" computer often down more

Response to Earlier Posting-FieldTrip 8/20/2008

I would just like to respond to Ms. Lizcano's comments regarding supervision on the field trip at the park. I am the owner of A Child's Reflection and we take all comments like Ms. Lizcanos serious and we take action any time we receive comments from the public regarding our childrens' or our teachers behavior on field trips. As space allows, I will try to address each of the issues raised in the previous posting. On the field trip mentioned to the park, we had 4 teachers present for 38 children. This is a ratio of just under 10 children to each teacher (the state mandated ratio is 12:1). Additionally, the teachers present were of the ages of 21,28,30 and 36 years old- none of which were teen-agers as alleged in the posting. \r \r We have specific safety procedures in place to try to address the restroom incident alleged by Ms. Lizcano. When we first arrive at the park, teachers willl inspect both restrooms to ensure that there are no strangers lurking/waiting for children (as well as for general cleanliness and usefulness). When we depart from the bus, children will then generally go to the restroom in pairs and often larger groups. Likewise, the same routine before re-boarding the bus for the trip back to the school. While on the field trip, children are usually sent to the restroom in pairs or larger groups with staff nearby (but not necessarily accompanying them inside the restroom). If a single child goes to the restroom, the teacher will generally wait outside the restroom and not accompany a child inside the restroom- this may have been what happened when the posting stated that the teacher was ""yards"" away. \r \r We are always looking to improve our security meaures and we are constantly making improvements in response to situations encountered and advice of others. We have met with our teachers regarding this alleged incident and will alter our procedure so that the teacher inspects the restroom immedately prior to a single child entering.\r \r more

School should re-evaluate their field trip safety policies 7/11/2008

I looked at this school's website and reviews and it sounds like it is great school with positive parent reviews. However, the only reason I DID look at this school's site is because at this very moment, I am speaking to my husband who is at the park with our daughter, and he's commenting on a group of children in tie-dye shirts who arrived on a bus with ""A Child's Reflection"" who seem to be running around without adequate supervision. He said he just witnessed a little girl about our daughter's age (6) run to the restroom unattended...the only adult he could see was yards away. Do these adults realize that ANYONE could be lurking in these public restrooms and that children should always be accompanied by an adult when entering them? He realized that there was another person supervising who appeared to be a teenager (She may just look very young), but he didn?t see very many adults for the number of children, especially when they scattered, as on a playground. I'm not at all trying to single-out this school, it's just scary to know that many schools who we think are properly caring for our children are so lax when we're not present. Just a heads-up to ALL parents with children at ANY school: an impeccable curriculum does not mean that all safety precautions are being taken. more
