Editorial review from Urbanspoon 5/20/2009

I love this place, I go there every time I'm in miami. The price us high but what do you expect when your in south beach. They do have $5 app specials and 50% off all their alcoholic beverages from 3p to 8p. I had the chicken fettucini and that was $19 and my boyfriend had the paella for $30. We also ordered $5 wings. The food was good. I would def recommend it. The restaraunt is located on ocean and 10th. more

it is the worst 3/6/2009

hi, everyone, last night(march 05-09) i went out with my father and some friends. as it was my father's first day in miami, he told us to go to the beach and have dinner, so we went to miami beach, and walking around we found this restaurant, it looked very nice, so we decide to got in, then the waitress came and told us that the food was 50% off, so we ordered, then when the waiter came with the bill i found that they had not given me the discount so i asked for it, and he just told us, that the discount was includes and it was nothing that we could do.\r be careful dont go to that place, the food is so disgusting and also so expensive more

Best crab cakes! 11/17/2007

I really enjoyed the food my crab cake was very fresh and savory, my salad was great, I had chicken as my main dish and it was great. Not crazy about the dessert. The restaurant was to dark would have liked a little more light Pros: food Cons: to dark during dinner more

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID! 8/4/2007

I called at 8:00 to request an 8:30 seating and my guest and I were immediately accommodated; in retrospect the fact the restaurant had tables available on a Friday night in a popular area should have been a warning?\r \r The dinner started when I requested the wine list and was told ?we?re out of white wine?. I was a bit confused thinking the waiter meant they were out of specific brand, but no, he repeated, ?we?re out of white wine?. He then proceeded to inform us that they had one off-brand chardonnay and sauvignon blanc but that was it (the problem lay in that the menu is definitely geared towards white wine). Ok, I thought, we order what they have (the chardonnay) and move on.\r \r Appetizers came out (warm goat cheese and a calamari ?tower?) and were ok, fried (and therefore tasted as undistinguished as every other fried food) but ok. The accompanying sauces were equally nondescript and tasted bland (off-the-supermarket-shelf bland).\r \r Main courses came out (scallops and blackened mahi-mahi) and had been cooked to death. The mahi-mahi literally required a knife to cut as there was NO WAY you were going to get through that thing with a fork - it was COMPLETELY devoid of moisture, ditto on the scallops. Our waiter came by to ask how things were and we told him the food had been overcooked. He apologized and took the food, 90% of which remained on the two plates, and asked if we wanted desert . We said no and he brought us the check stating that the manager ?had given us a 10% discount?. I found it ironic that the discount equaled the amount we had eaten!\r \r I decided if the manager was so unconcerned that he couldn?t visit our table I wasn?t going to complain - I was simply going to voice my opinion on-line. We paid the bill and left. \r \r If you want superficiality (bad food in nice surroundings) come to Ocean 510.\r If you want good food go elsewhere. Pros: Ambience Cons: Food, managerial indifference more

Your dinner club one stop shop! 4/13/2007

Wow South Beach! Vegas on the water! I work with a major production/promotions company based out of L.A, so totally clueless where to go in South Beach, wanting something else besides Lincoln Road that we had everyday getting out of the convention. I came on here to find somewhere we could have our company dinner, and saw the revues for 510 Ocean. We booked a party last minute ( 2 days in advance) my bad!! They found space for us, got us a prefixed menu that was amazing, and set up a extra bar just for our party outside. We were asking after dinner where the cool clubs were that we could get into and realized we were at one, this place attracts so many good looking models and locals, I did'nt think that I was in cheesy miami anymore! With live music and a d.j, we stayed till 5am not 2 like boring Cali! I heard that Miami had bad food and service, but this little hidden secret is the only exception, see ya next year 510 Ocean! Pros: Friendly crowd in South Beach Cons: Small but exclusive more

Outstanding 3/10/2007

I think this is one of the best restaurant in miami. Good food and good music. Our server susan recommended the pork tenderloin and it was outstanding. more

A delicious experience! 2/27/2007

I heard many great things about 510 Ocean and had to have dinner there while in Miami. It completely exceeded my expectations. The seven of us each ordered a different entree, plus many appetizers. We were equally impressed by everything. We particularly enjoyed the creative Sobe tropical salad, the sweet mashed potatoes, and the amazing chocolate decadence. With a combination of the impeccable service, relaxing ambience, and eclectic music, 510 Ocean has everything for a great evening out. Pros: the food, music, service, drinks, atmosphere more

Best Bachelorette ever! 11/27/2006

My girlfriends brought me down to miami for my bachelorette party. We went to dinner at three different places and the only one that stuck out was 510 ocean. The staff was young, fun and very hospitable and the room had a great vibe! They set up a beautiful table in their courtyard for us and the food was amazing. (Far better than what I would expect from a place that is ""hip"") It was a saturday night and we were suppose to go clubbing but we ended up staying until close. It was definately the best night we had of all three. They really took care of us that night and i would reccomend 510 ocean to anyone but especially for bachelorette parties. Pros: Super super friendly staff! Great mucsic and excellent food more

Tasty food and excellent service! 11/19/2006

In a sea of restaurants with mediocre food and terrible service, this place was a pleasant surprise. I travel to South Beach quite a bit for business and have been to most of the ?hot spots? both on and off the beach. I was looking for something a little ?off the beaten path? and my hotel recommended 510 Ocean. Man, was it different. First of all, the service is actually hospitable and professional! And second, the food was excellent! I had the crab cake to start, which was very good, and then the filet as an entree. The filet was cooked perfectly (the waiter actually listened to what I said) and the mashies were heavenly. My date doubled up on a tuna app and a tuna entree. She was very happy with the appetizer and I tasted the entree -- and it was fantastic too! I passed on desert, but my friend had some sort of chocolate cake, which was very good. Overall, it was a very fun night! I highly recommend this place to anyone who is sick of the all surface, no substance restaurants that litter Ocean and Collins! Pros: Good food and service Cons: It's a bit of a walk from the higher up hotels more

An ok dinner while visiting South Beach. 11/19/2006

Vacationing in Miami, we heard great things about 510 Ocean. We were told that they were totally booked, but the amount of people in the restaurant would have said otherwise. We had dinner in the restaurants private courtyard, which was very pretty. The service was nice and the food was ok. The check was a little steep, for what we ordered, but overall it was an ok experience. When I return to South Beach ina couple f weeks I will be trying other restaurants.\r Pros: Located on Ocean Ave. Cons: Pricey more

Professional Handling of Our Group Event 9/20/2006

Every year my company sponsors a large dinner (90 people this year) for our clients and out of town employees. I have made the arrangements for the past 3 years. I went to a large birthday party at 510 Ocean and was impressed with how they handled it so I decided to do our annual dinner with them. I cannot say enough about how professionally Drew handled our event. He was the nicest and most pleasant person I have ever worked with on an event. Everything was perfect! So good that I had to write a review and let people know how I felt. The food, atmosphere, and service were spectacular and after the event I got so much positive feedback from everyone who attended. This is my thank you. Pros: A great spirit and energy in the place- you can tell people love working there more

should have gone to fridays next door!!!!!!!!! 8/22/2006

We will never return to 510. I have never had a worst meal and experience in a restaurant before such as this one. We should have known when we walked in because there was no one inside or outside the restaurant. 510 was depressing and dirty.\r For the prices this people are charging i would rather eat at Fridays next door to 510. At least there were people there.\r Pros: none whatsoever Cons: f more

Great service at 510 ! 5/18/2006

Being from a small city, I always use city search when looking for venues to hold our company's corporate events. This year the location was Miami, and I heard great things about the new restaurant 510 ocean. We ended up having our dinner in the restaurants private courtyard. The service alone made our night. But on top of that , the food was amazing. 510 Ocean took care of all my companies needs. I highly recommend this place, not only to the casual diner, but also to corporations looking to hold private events. more

We walked out! 5/1/2006

I don't know what to say about the food because after delivering stale bread our server disappeared for an hour.... and our drink glasses were empty for most of the hour. We asked to speak with a manager... and waited for a while before we dicided to leave. (we never saw the manager) TERRIBLE! more

Amazing Music 3/25/2006

I have never been to a restaurant like this one. Usually if the atmosphere is great, the food and service suffers. This place nails everything. The food is amazing. Our server(s) were on top of everything as well but it was the music that blew me away. After inquiring about the music, I found out that a bunch of music industry people owned the place which was no surprise since it was clear that the DJ knew what he was doing (also the co-owner). Very impressive. One of our favorite places and we live in Manhattan! Pros: MUSIC!!, Garden, FOOD!! more

Been to Miami many times, 510 Ocean is the best! 3/7/2006

From NYC and have visited Miami often and have been relatively disappointed with the restaurant scene until I went to 510 Ocean. When I first walked in the vibe was awesome. Great looking place with the DJ was spinning quality tunes - really mixing it up well. The best surprise was how amazing the food was on top of everything else, as well as excellent service. Not to mention I didn't even realize that they have an awesome outdoor tropical garden/ courtyard in the back. Can't wait to return! more
