I've lived here for six months since I was a student at GaTech until now. Because of an inconclusive burglary happening lately and an intense sense of insecurity where we live, I and my spouse are trying to move out. I know that means breaking the contract so we went and discussed this with an office staff who not only made us feel uncomfortable but also helpless and guilty. The burglary already depressed us and we were talking about moving out with intense concern about our security. The office staff herself showed little sympathy and made us feel as if it was ENTIRELY our fault. Concluding the conversation, she added on a slight threat saying people who ""just leave"" without paying the penalty gets their credit scores screwed etc. It just felt really bad. I kinda miss Alison the staff whom we signed our contract with.\r

Now we are not talking about the burglary (from which we lost a car, all electronics including our work stuffs, phones, monitors etc. and a very nice backpack I guess the burglar kinda fancied it himself) because that could be our fault (thought the office staff MADE CERTAIN that it was). Now we got extra locks installed and everything but we are leaving because of the insecurity that is this neighborhood. People were always hanging out in front of the house and just there was no way telling them off. I told this to the office lady and she responded like ""people are like that, it's the same everywhere!"" There was this neighbor who was always standing almost right in front of our door (because of the proximity of the our door and his, he was legitimately standing in front of his but you could see what's inside our apartment from there). Every time we brought new furniture in, I felt like being watched. Is this a legitimate concern or is it supposed to be like living in America?\r

Ok Noise level: You could hear the awesome wall-blasting soundtracks your neighbor him/herself is enjoying on a weekday. \r
\r
Maintenance: A month or so ago, the garbage disposal beneath the sink stopped working and we telephoned the office. They didn't pay any attention about it until after the burglary...\r

I think I've been shouted in the face ""You got what you pay for"" while living here :D
