The Connection is hands-down the best place in Louisville to dance! Where else is there such a huge dance floor with awesome techno and dance tracks?
Yes, it is a gay bar. It's an excellent club for the gay community, BUT it's also great if you're straight too. In fact, I'm straight and I get hit on by more guys and less women than I do at "straight" bars. There are all kinds of people there and it's totally cool because no one is judging you, no matter who you are. You can really let your hair down and dance all night on the dance floor.
It doesn't get going until fairly late, so don't hit it too early. But make sure you catch the drag show. It's awesome!!
The location isn't too great. Downtown is fine, but the blocks right around it are not a place to be by yourself at night, and they aren't well-lit. Just make sure you have someone to keep you company on your walk from and to the car!
