Review content:
The Mayan Theater is one of Denver's architectural landmarks, a historic theater from the 1920s that now functions as one of the better locales for independent and foreign films in the metro area. Sitting in the main theater with its elaborate decorations invoking memories of Chichen Itza and other Mayan ruins may be worth the ticket price for some. But, the ecletic mix of films makes this movie theater a place to return to time and again. Some of my favorite Mayan memories include the late-night showing of "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", the confusing path of "Mulholland Drive" and returning multiple times to see "Memento". Whether you're looking for documentaries like "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" and "Fahrenheit 911" or foreign films like "Maria Full of Grace" and "Bad Education", this theater is one not to miss. Warning, though, as the seating is traditional and the floor may be sticky at times.
