My cleaning was very good, but I was so dissatisfied with my billing experience that I called a lawyer and my insurance company. Short story: Scheduled a cleaning and they decided it was a periodontal cleaning, which my insurance doesn't cover at 100%. They told my insurance company that I signed a treatment plan and that it was thoroughly explained that they were doing periodontal work. Wrong. I was given the treatment plan *after* my first cleaning was done and it was given to me as an estimate for future treatment (fillings) that I'd asked for the cost on. Other problems: Dr. Kim told me I needed fillings (I currently have none). When I questioned the need, she acted annoyed with me and eventually "compromised" by saying they could clean the "worst" tooth and then see if it needed a filling. What? Why would you tell me I need 4-8 fillings (and try to schedule them) if you're not sure I have cavities? When I asked her flat-out if I had fillings, she wouldn't answer. I don't view fillings as preventive treatment - neither does my insurance company. Also, I was told over phone I could request x-rays from my previous doctor the day of my appointment. When I got there, was told I needed x-rays NOW for proper exam. I said I didn't want the unnecessary expense and was told, "But your insurance covers it." I resisted the x-rays, and they consulted for 15 minutes then came back and told me yeah, we can't advise you on your tooth health without x-rays. They took a full-set. Then Dr. Kim never reviewed my x-rays with me; she just told me I had "healthy" teeth - then five minutes later told me I needed all my molars filled. Does that make any sense? It's a shame because this place is super close to where I live, which is why I ignored the other bad reviews. But I'm not clueless about what a good dental experience looks like. The convenient location and excellent hygienists don't compensate for the fact that I don't trust Fremont Dental.
