Review content:
At the request of my primary service provider, Dr. Robert Enelow, I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Vinod Rustgi who is with the Metropolitan Liver Disease Group. Dr. Rustgi has appointments at Dr. Enelow's office once a week. When a arrived for my appointment I was told that Dr. Rustgi was not available that day and I was seen by a physician's assistant. There was no physical examination of any kind, the assistant scheduled an appointment for me to have a future colonoscopy and prescribed some pills for the preparation. At this time Medicare was billed for a specialist's visit although I was not seen by one. In preparation for the colonoscopy the day before I opened the bottle of pills, and quickly realized that I was not going to be able to swallow the recommended amount of pills in the required time due to the enormity of their size -(Horse Pills). I immediately contacted the doctor's office on their emergency line since it was a Sunday and spoke to Dr. Rustgi. He recommended a liquid preparation which I could obtain from the pharmacy. He indicated that this liquid (Go Lightly) did not require a prescription. However when I went to Giant the Pharmacist stated a prescription was required and he attempted to contact Dr. Rustgi but was unable to reach him. The next day I called Dr. Rustgi's office to cancel the appointment since I did not have the required medication for the preparation. Dr. Rustgi's office called the pharmacist at Giant with the prescription and scheduled another appointment for me. However, two weeks later I was called by the receptionist at Dr. Rustgi's office and told to contact another physician that Dr. Rustgi did not want to handle me as a patient. I did just that. Several months later I received a bill for two cancelled appointments in the amount of $ 250.00 which I refused to pay due to the circumstances. Now Dr. Rustgi is taking me to court and charging me $ 250.00 plus 6% interest plus legal fees and court costs. I would not recomment this practice to anyone. marierichter@cox.net
