Businiess name:  Southwedge Diner

South Wedge Diner 880 S Clinton Avenue Rochester, NY 14620 585.271.3190 I have never really embraced the whole diner experience. I have been to a few, nondescript diners before and have always been less than impressed. This all changed with breakfast at the South Wedge Diner. We went on a recommendation from friends after visiting the Public Market. When we walked in, I expected the usual diner “funk”. At South Wedge, it was bright and clean. I found the menu to be what you would expect in a diner, but one that is in a bit more quirky neighborhood which allows for the use of asparagus and spinach in the omelets. We were greeted quickly by our friendly server who brought us all some pretty good coffee. That’s saying a lot. It was drinkable and I wanted refills! We all ordered various breakfast dishes and they all came out hot and fast. My spinach, onion and feta omelet with homefries ($4.95) was delicious. The eggs were light and fluffy and there were just enough ingredients to satisfy. The homefries were homemade and my side order of bacon (4 slices!) was done to perfection. My dining companions had similar results with their dishes (all under $5.95). The egg plate, Belgian waffle and bacon cheese omelet were done with amazing results. I was told to watch out for the South Wedge Skillet – it’s one of those dishes you think you will never finish but do with gusto. Filled with potatoes, gravy and any other breakfast item you could think of, it’s like a garbage plate for breakfast. I highly recommend visiting the South Wedge Diner – it may change your opinion of diners completely! Visit Eat Out Rochester: http://eatoutrochester.blogspot.com/
