Review content:
I recently booked Certe for my wedding in NYC. I will start by saying the food was DELICIOUS and plentiful, and the serving staff was TOP NOTCH, and those were just about the ONLY things that were OK out of the entire experience dealing with Certe. (And the only reason they got any stars). Unfortunately there was a whole mess of problems while dealing with these guys... I could list them individually, but that would take waaaaaay to long. To summarize quickly, everything was a disaster from the planning process (i.e. they were unable to access their internet when we met with them at their office to review our menu - and had NO SAMPLES of the menu as discussed, only cakes), to the payment (4 days before the wedding they tried to say that the specialty cocktails were NOT included and we would have to pay an additional $1200, though they were included on EVERY SINGLE INVOICE we received - or rather had to chase them for), to the DAY OF OUR WEDDING (i.e. they set tables of 10 when we specifically told them we needed tables of 12 - about 25-30 guests didn't have a place to sit, one of them was the maid of honor)!!! I stress to you that these are only a FEW of the disasters that they call service. The kicker was that they were unable to set up and clean up in the time THEY allowed for and tried to charge US for the time. (They also addressed this 15 minutes BEFORE the wedding was even over). Please also keep in mind that their excuses they gave our venue, us, my parents and the wedding coordinator, were all different and made no sense whatsoever. We returned from our honeymoon to an email from Shelley, the assistant, telling us that we owed an additional $700 for extra time - though the wedding ended on time and started exactly when it was supposed to. To highlight SOME other things, they ran out of beer, they didn't set our table (bride and groom) correctly, they understaffed and thus there were lines out the door and the display was average at best. I definitely DO NOT recommend you use them for any event. Bonnie and team may be able to handle small events, but a 200 person wedding was clearly out of their league. She even got mad and snotty with me when I called to ""check - in"" and see where we were in the planning process! Can you image that? She got mad at me, the BRIDE, (and paying customer) for wanting to say hey and see what the status was. (I remind you that I had to hound them for ANY correspondence, except, of course, when it came to the payment). Certe NYC Catering left a horrid taste in our mouths that we will never use them for anything and we certainly advise the same for any bride/groom. Even my (now) husband who is the most laid back individual was repulsed with them and could not stand to deal with them after a while. Be warned before you book them.
Please note that is is not a review of the restaurant part of the company, only the catering department!
