I had the misfortune of choosing Boatright Kennels to board my animals earlier this month.\r

From the start the owner of the kennel was rude as the other review stated but it got worse from that point on.\r
\r
I should mention that Boatright doesn't accept credit cards and doesn't provide any receipts which indicates that they have something to hide. They demand (yes, demand) to be paid in advance for boarding which is rediculous but I was up against the wall because of an urgent matter so had no choice.\r

When I arrived at the kennel Hillary (the owner) was hesitant to show me the facility and only after I insisted was I allowed into the shed of terror. I was amazed how filthy it was, stunk to high heaven and it looked like the cages hadn't been cleaned for days, maybe weeks. The couple of dogs there were starving for attention and there was feces all over their cage which indicated to me that they were never let out or exercised.\r

While most kennels have some sort of bed, boatright supplies nothing for the premium prices they charge. Hillary told me that they were behind in cleanup because they keep losing staff. I can understand why!\r

When I tried to pickup my pups there was nobody answering the phone, whch was the same problem i ran into when I tried to book as well. I had to wait an extra day for a call back and was told (at 11 am)that I had a window of 30 minutes to pick the dogs up or I would have to wait till the next day to pick them up and I'd have to pay for for an additional boarding day too. it appears that there is nobody there to care for the animals during the day because they had no staff and both Hillary and her husband work during the day. Not real great for a company that is supposed to be caring for my pets 24 hours a day.\r

I finally managed to arrange a time to pickup my pets and was amazed at how listless they were as they usually go crazy when they see me. I took them home and then realized why. They were vomiting, and had diarrea every 10-20 minutes. I rushed tem to my vet and blood tests and a stool sample verified that they had acquired a parasite while being boarded. As a result they have been under vetrenarian care for the past 3 weeks and my costs have already exceeded $1100. When the vet asked where the pups were boarded I told him and he responded with ""that kennel is well known for parasites and he couldn't figure out why the Austin Licensing Dept. hadn't shut them down yet."" Not really what I wanted to hear! \r

I can only plead with anyone who is thinking of boarding their beloved pet, that they DON'T even consider Boatright Kennel.\r

Cons: Rude, Unlicensed, Dirty. Parasites.
