Here is my take on ACC: Here we have an absolutely beautiful structure...historic if you will. Absolutely, probably the best of the period in design and appointments. Here in the down-town area with a glorious presence...from the outside and inside....BUT (that word again!) the one thing that keeps this church from being REALLY good is the sad fact that they have no principal musical instrument..none...not...nada! With all of the musical instruments and musicians in the city capable of making this church sparkle with music and become a presence in Houston....nothing do they have. Now some of you will say that they have an organ in the balcony...but THAT organ is a joke. Hardly nothing plays, notes don't play, the pedals don't work, the console is a major disaster just waiting to fall on someone and break their bones!...held up with a 2x4 mind you! Now here is the situation: Few want to have their wedding there because THERE IS NO ORGAN. Even if this poor excuse for an organ worked perfectly...it would still be just a whisper in the dark. Here is my offer: We have in our brokerage, a contract to liquidate 2 magnificent instruments. 1. An Aeolian Skinner 3 manual pipe organ. This organ is offered for free. Can you imagine. It is worth about $100,000 but the church is selling the property and that goes with it unless some church would like to have it. 2. We have a Rodgers digital 3 manual Concert organ that will do ANYTHING musically and it is available for a very small price compared to its price when purchased ($170,000). NOW...is there anyone out there that would care to do something with one of these magnificent instruments to bring some glory to this Catholic Church. Anyone can call me at 281-488-2055 to see, play, discuss and consider a donation, gift or get behind a project to secure one of these instruments that will put this church on the map and give it some reality in music. My goodness this church could be on an equal with the brand new Catholic Cathedral! To let this pass and allow this wonderful church to go begging for an organ when there are two that are available for almost nothing, is sinful if anything would be. Lets see what someone out there can do about this...some one who cares and has the interest to jump into a significant organ addition to this church that will become a musical ambassador to the city. I've done my part, you do yours...(you know who you are!) Call me. Anthony
