A beach water front Pacific view to go with your dinner w/ the company of loved ones. That's what we did on Mon (9/7/09 Labor Day actually) at Miramar Beach Restaurant in Half Moon Bay, CA. Honestly I rate 3.5 stars =) LOCATION: Off of Magellan Ave fr Hwy 1. Magellan Ave ends @ Mirada Rd, where Miramar Beach Restaurant is...u won't miss it. CUST SVC: Excellent! We RSVP for 6pm, but was ready to be seated immediately although we arrived just after 5pm. Warmly greeted by Hostess, & continuous excellent service w/ our waiter-Peter. Peter was thorough, polite, patient, helpful, & did a great job covering our table & others. Keep up the good work team! RESTAURANT: I'll be upfront, it doesn't do a whole lot for visual stimulation on the outside appearance, but ok. Spacious & clean interior w/ plenty of 2-seater & 4-seater tables w/ armless chairs, bar area, window views, & well ventilated. Outdoor patio is practically other half of the restaurant located in the back with plenty of various seating options w/ arm chairs, bar area, firepits, & heating lamps. We chose to dine outside closest to the water front. RSVP only for indoor dinning; outside dinning u pick ur seat if anything avail. COCKTAILS: BF-J had Adios Long Island (which he rated 3/5 starts) & I had my ""alcohol-light-weight-special"" Chambord Sour. My Chambord Sour did its job...a simple light cocktail for dinner. APPS: We shared the Popcorn Shrimp which really pretty good. Nice, light, yet crunchy batter on flavorful shrimp accented w/ ur choice of tartar sauce or cocktail sauce. Seafood Chowderwas good, but nothing over the top. The Seafood Margarita was tasty, chunky, fresh, & plentiful...actually, we had to ask for more chips *tee-hee*. ENTREES: I had the Coconut Prawns, which for some reason appears as ""Red Curry Prawns"" online. This dish definitely has the spiciness & not recommended for those who can't handle too many spices. I enjoyed it tho; fresh seafood & thick curry sauce...I could've used more rice (then again I always can do more rice). BF had Seafood Paella which was plentiful w/ fresh seafood & definitely good. BF & I quite satisfied =) Dad settled for the NY Steak since prime rib wasn't on the menu; it was ok, nothing special here. Mom had the Dungeness Crab Cakes, which she really enjoyed. Btw parental units, mom came out more satisfied w/ entree selection. DESSERTS: BF & mom shared the Apple Pie a'la mode which they cleaned up pretty good, so guessing it was ok; they didn't talk much while eatting. Now me, I flippin' LOOOVED my Tiramisu. They did it complete justice...soft, sweet, creamy, & enhanced w/ raspberry sauce on plate. OMG, this gets my SCRUM-DIDLY-UMPTOUS stamp! FINAL SUNSET: Our final dinner tab came to $219.50 that covered 3 cocktails, 2 apps, 1cup & 1bowl chowder, 4 entrees, & 2 desserts. Overall Half Moon Bay offers a great restaurant with Miramar Beach Restaurant. The meals are a bit overpriced, but the extra ""price tags"" are for the views...great cust svc, great food, ok cocktails, & excellent sunset views. Pros: Great views of Pacific & good food Cons: Expensive
