Cetrella is a three-star European Bistro which blends casual elegance with rustic charm, reminiscent of a Tuscan villa with cozy stone fireplaces and sun-lit terraces. It is a Mediterranean dream come true and one of the best restaurants anywhere. It features lusty, flavorful dishes inspired by European cuisine and it has a winning international wine list. The halibut and the cod are prize winners and the soups are really something to write home about. Mother's Day Brunch was an awesome experience. We walked to Cetrella the back way through the neighborhoods. The food was mouth watering. The sunlight was filtering in from above to give the place a dream-like atmosphere. The kitchen crew were in perpetual motion. Everybody and their mother was there. We walked back home through town. It was a perfect day and an unforgettable dining experience!
A few days later we had another amazing meal at Cetrella in the evening! We had the potato and leek soup which has become our favorite along with the foccaccia drenched in truffle oil and followed by the foie gras and then we shared the risotto with fresh spring garlic stems puree and asparagus and peas and fava beans and morel mushrooms with a truffle foam while for my main course I had the halibut which had been fresh caught by Native Americans from a ship in Anchorage and flown in and was also bathed in morel mushrooms. This was all accompanied by a superb 2003 Barolo from Serralunga and followed by the local strawberry and mint and shortbread dessert and I also had the rice pudding which was simply mouth-wateringly delicious. It was an awesome meal and afterwards Chef Sylvain Montassier came to our table to talk with us about the preparation of our meal. He helped us make our dessert choices and talked with us about the new and exciting things we could expect on the menu in the weeks to come. We had arrived quite late well after 9:30 PM and did not finish our meal until almost 11:30 PM and by then we were the last ones to leave. We bid goodnight to all the kitchen crew and went home from a most memorable dining experience. We are so very happy that you are back!
Pros: Mouth wateringly delicious dishes in Half Moon Bay
Cons: There are absolutely none

I wish I frequented Half Moon Bay more because if I did I would come back to this place! They had great food and the setting inside is like a rustic old boat, complete with fish tanks. If the weather permits (which you never really know in HMB) the outside seating is nice because the restaurant sits across the street from the beach and will give a great view of the sunset.
I also liked that the crowd ranged from families to mid 20-somethings without seeming stuffy.
This place should definitely be checked out if you are in the area!

I was prepared to replace my bathroom fans because of the funny noise they started to make. (I operated these 2 fans for almost 24/7 for 3.5 years.) Scott Appleton came in and suggested that we take a look at the fans and the fan motors. Once he saw them, he suggested that he should try cleaning them and see if that made a difference. He spent about 2 hours cleaning first one, then the other. The funny noise disappeared. While they may not be as quiet as they were 3 years ago, still, very quiet. When I hear a funny noise from the fans, Scott will be the first on the list to call! Integrity, honesty, and experience: great!

My husband and I ate here last weekend - we were out the door with two sapporos for about $50 - most of the rolls are 4.25 which is SO CHEAP! but they were also excellent. We had the pork potstickers which were good and the wasabi gyoza maybe? which were ok....sort of crispy and round. But we really loved the roll with macadamia nuts on it - original and very tasty. Overall I would highly recommend for a fun, great sushi dinner. Our server forgot a couple of items but was very sweet about it - great place for groups or casual...
Pros: Macadamia-Nut Roll
Cons: Slightly forgetful waitstaff

While in Half Moon Bay for our anniversary, we tried 4 restaurants. Rogue Chefs was by far the best. It was very fun. We ate at the chefs table where the master chef prepared our dinner right before our eyes and recommended wine to go with each. He was so friendly. It was like being at his house and getting a special treat dinner. He didn't even know what would be for dessert until later when we watched him make chocolate flourless cakes. No recipes here. The menu offers 3 or 5 courses. I had scallop fried rice, spinach salad with strawberries and a dressing he whipped up just before serving, tomato risotto and corn meal covered pork chop. My husband had Flat Iron steak with Blackberry Chocolate sauce as his main dish. The evening was absolutely wonderful. Thanks for a fabulous anniversary.
Pros: Excellent food, extensive wine, personlized service
Cons: We were so full!

The food here is great! I was able to get a nice thick and fresh crab and dipped in butter - OMG!!! it was so good. It was a group of kids and they all enjoyed their Fish and Chips, Fried Calamari and Calm Chowder...everything was very fresh and the weather was also nice. This is a area to go and getaway and eat fresh seafood that is caught daily.

We've been to brunch here a few times, mostly for their Easter themed brunch and have a great time. It is the best brunch in the Bay Area, with a great selection! During Easter they have an even more expensive brunch (if that was possible) including an Easter egg hunt for the kids, handmade chocolates, a petting zoo, and a crafts room for the kids, and of course the Easter Bunny! It is a great place to go for brunch!

More 1 year ago
Sunday brunch at Navio is a true dining experience highlighted by one of the most exquisite and breathtaking settings along the Pacific coast. If I had to find fault with my dining experience it would certainly not be with the sumptuous cornucopia of excellent foods, but with my inability to sample enough of them. This was not my first (and certainly not my last) visit to Navio so I knew from experience to pace my eating and to make my selections carefully ensuring that I did not overeat before dessert. Realizing that Navio's Executive Chef specializes in local freshly caught fish I first concentrate on a wide variety of seafoods, which also include crab claws and shrimp. I also focus on one of my favorites while I am in California, i.e. California sushi. Navio also specializes in offering a wide variety of wines, some selected from wineries in the local area (extra charge for wine). I save the best for last however, diligently surveying the wide array of desserts at the rear of Navio. I am always gratified to find my favorite there, i.e., lemon tarts. If I have a little more room in my stomach I will also sample one of the many exquisite chocolate desserts as well. Now it is time to walk off some of my well earned calories by heading outside and experiencing the remarkable view of the Pacific as I walk along the bluff overlooking the ocean. This Ritz Carlton is a dining delight but does not get 5 stars. I would give it 6 stars!!
Pros: location, setting, parking, ambiance, service
Cons: None that I can think of
